The Milwaukee Journal ^ | Feb 8, 1988 | David Broder

TOPICS: Politics/Elections
KEYWORDS: caucuses; iowa
I know... I know... went way back for this one... But it seemed to be the best article I could find on this topic.

Also don't have the time to go and retype it all for this site.

Was curious historically what is the normal effect on the outcome of the race was with the winner of Iowa.

Monday, February 1 Iowa caucus

Tuesday, February 9 New Hampshire

It’s where President Robertson got his kick off in 88!

After President Bush won in 1980, that Gov. Reagan never recovered. Why he didn’t take the hint after losing to Ford in 76, I’ll never figure out.

I worked on that one. Got to meet a lot of people. Really enjoyed talking to the late Robert Novak and having dinner with Mort Sahl and Billy Dee Williams, who were backing my candidate.

Tell that to Dubya, Jimmy Carter and Barack Obama.

If Cruz and Trump split the delegates won then Trump goes on unimpeded to win the next few primaries. Trump leads in NH; SC; NV.

If I had my druthers I would rather be in Donald Trump’s position now. He can spend what he wants , he still has time to get out his vote.

And I would rather have a helicopter than a bus. Looks way more Presidential.

And what if he brings his family. Ivanka is more popular than Trump himself.

Stupid way to pick a nominee. In a rational process, the Republican primaries would emphasize Texas, Alabama, Mississippi, and Florida. You would use SC, AZ, NC or MO for the winnowing. That would get us a candidate that we support. But the process is controlled by the establishment, and they want to get rid of the candidates that that people support so that we don't have any choice. It is a rigged game.

I support Trump because he blows up that game.

Stupid article since in 1980, Regan bashed Bush in the New Hampshire primary.

As always these articles are trying to make something from nothing. The voters will determine the outcome not this article or any other pundit
