Saudi Arabia has faced global condemnation after it was revealed on 2 January, that 47 people at prisons around the country, including 56-year-old al Nimr, were executed. Most of the detainees had been captured after a series of attacks by al Qaeda between 2003 and 2006. Mr Nimr, who was a driving force behind the anti-government protests, was found guilty of a number of terrorism-related charges in 2014, including incitement of vandalism and sectarian strife, failing to obey or pledge allegiance to King Abdullah (then monarch of Saudi Arabia), calling for the collapse of the state, and insulting relatives and companions of the Prophet Muhammad.

Analysis, why the Saudis did it.

If this Shiekh actually called for the overthrow of the government and I don’t know that to be true, that is rather brazen. Another article said he promoted non-violence.

Not to defend the Saudi’s here, but this guy was in their country trying to incite a revolution....

They gave him a nice show trial, and dispatched him appropriately.

End of story. I don’t care that the Saudi’s killed this guy...he kind of asked for it. I don’t give a damned that the Iranians trashed their embassy.

I don’t think that there is anything remotely approaching justice in Saudi Arabia. Which is why I called it a show trial.

His fate was determined long before the day they arrested him.

Why should I think that it was anything less than a formality before they executed him?

I think the significance of this is that it could start a greater conflagration in the ME. Seems pretty volatile.

https://www.amnesty.org/en/latest/news/2016/01/shia-cleric-among-47-executed-by-saudi-arabia-in-a-single-day/

Saudi Arabia’s authorities have demonstrated their utter disregard for human rights and life by executing 47 people in a single day, said Amnesty International today.

Those put to death earlier today included prominent Shi’a Muslim cleric Sheikh Nimr Baqir al-Nimr, who was convicted after a political and grossly unfair trial at the Specialized Criminal Court (SCC). With the exception of the Sheikh and three Shi’a Muslim activists, the others were convicted of involvement with al-Qa’ida...

Never going to eradicate the threat of Islamonazism when ‘human rights’ groups know what the genocide horrors they are committing and still thinking they can “co-exist” in society today. Why doesn’t that Co-exist bumper sticker have a Nazi swastika in it? Recognize that some ideologies are just incompatible with a civilized world?

Can we audit the Saudi books and see if they have ever funded Islamic terrorism around the world?
