Yup. It should be treated under the felony murder rule. The caller, if shown to have made the call maliciously, is just as responsible as the killer would have been, if not LEO. Or something to that effect. They go to prison for murder or get zapped, shot, or hung.

Yeah, but it's typically pretty lame stuff - like they're going to kill themselves, or they just killed friend/girlfriend/sister/brother/parents and will kill any cops who show up - dramatic go-out-in-a-blaze-of-glory type stuff. That immediately raises red flags and the comm center people just keep them talking while they get a good ping on the phone. The funniest incident I know of happened several years ago when some punk called claiming he had just killed several people in his own living room and was daring the cops to do something about it - the problem was the intended target was outside on the porch talking to a deputy at the same time the call came in. Whoopsie - bad timing there. The deputy turned and asked the guy who would do stuff like that - he got several names & addresses and wouldn't you know it, the phone pinged up at one of those very addresses. Busted in record time.

We’ve had open carry here in PA forever, and while I carry everywhere that it’s allowed, I rarely open carry. It’s a matter of choice and I’m just more comfortable with a concealed weapon.
I carry openly when I want to make a point, and even then I always have a back up piece that is concealed.>>> i’m in philly so i really can’t open carry without being shot by a cop, but it is true and i would recon that if people actually look at the laws on the books, there are probably no laws prohibiting open carry. except local jurisdictions (2AMD) just concealed permit.

Exactlty! And, that SHOULD be the law. A person with a permit may conceal carry, AND, if inadvertently the gun shows, should NOT be prosecutable. Bingo!>> i’m making a statement that i do not know is true, but i betcha there are very vew open carry prohibitions. the permits are a for concealed carry. i bet most state can open carry. left me have at it i’ll take the flames but it think prohibitions are local not state. i open carry when i hunt.

I say 10 years in prison and $50,000 to the victim plus all restitution to the various agencies.
But then, that’s just me. ;)

If I was on the jury (if it hit that stage) I’d vote conviction and maximum sentence every time without caving.
Maybe if they got 10 years I’d back off. ;)

What do you mean if you âwant to make a pointâ? Do you think of a firearm as a fashion accessory? Nope, I think of it as MINE, to do with as I choose. When I attended a TEA Party rally several years ago, the organizer suggested that everyone "open carry" because we can.
If I were walking with you, I'd think of you as a "fashion accessory".

“Which I think âopen carry for everyoneâ would automatically fix....but a lawyer might think differently.”
We should be able to carry open or concealed without being charged or harassed but have ceded our Second Amendment Rights.
