There are still others to beat out for it. I’m a little rusty and they’ve had more practice. LOL!

ROCKUMENTARY: NEW YEARS RETROSPECTIVE

#1 ON JANUARY 1, 1963

This British band featured drummer Clem Cattini, and it was one of the biggest instrumentals of its era.

This was the year that Jack Kennedy prematurely left the office he had so badly profaned.

My favorite version of "Are You Lonesome Tonight?" is by Vaughn De Leath, with Bob Haring & His Colonial Club Orchestra, but a decent copy is unavailable on Youtube. So here's one by Henry Burr, recorded late in his career.

Evenin’, Pro...we had a 2 hour blizzard this morning. Then the temps went back up, melted most of the snow, and now the roads are slicker than snot again. *sigh*

Happy New Year, Kathy!

You Alaskans just can't catch a break this winter, so far!

It's bitter, single-digit cold here at nights, but HEY, warm inside!

And there's College Football on to boot!

Elvis Presley: "Are You Lonesome Tonight?"

This demands an answer. I once met this singer at a party.

Fireworks are illegal here too, but I’ll and Charlie will hear at least one or some Jerk firing his gun in the air.

Tomorrow Maddi comes for Dinner.

ROCKUMENTARY: NEW YEARS RETROSPECTIVE

#1 ON JANUARY 1, 1964

This was the old Vaughn Monroe baritone tune from World War II given an update by a tenor. Here's a bonus track.

Vaughn Monroe: "There! I've Said it Again"

This was the year that the conservative movement took control of a party and then crashed and burned, opening the way for the Great Society.

Bobby Vinton: "There! I've Said it Again"

When "There! I've Said It Again" by Bobby Vinton fell from #1, a new era in popular music began. My favorite version of the song that replaced it can be heard here.

The police around here turn a blind eye to folks shooting fireworks on New Years Eve - - - fortunately! I have a package of goodies I’m dying to fire off. LOL!
But the wind needs to die down. It kicked up again today and I’ve been cussing it. MAYBE by midnight .......

ROCKUMENTARY: NEW YEARS RETROSPECTIVE

#1 ON JANUARY 1, 1965

The Fab Four were on a roll with one hit after another, defining the music of an era. Paul McCartney would end up next to George Gershwin, Cole Porter, Richard Rodgers and Irving Berlin as one of the greatest songwriters of the century.

This was the year that Lyndon Johnson fundamentally transformed America. We're still living with his decisions.
