Billionaire philanthropist and Koch Industries CEO Charles Koch blasted the hypocrisy of pot criminalization’s disproportionate enforcement in an October interview on CBS This Morning.

In the interview, which can be seen in the above-embedded video, Koch said, “Some poor kid in the inner city smokes a joint, goes to prison, ruins his life, where we have a president who is more privileged, who smoked a joint, becomes president. We have a candidate who admits smoking a joint — he’s running for president. Now, where is the justice in that?”

Who goes to prison for smoking a joint any more? Don’t even go to prison for robbing a house or stealing a car. Sounds like the Koch Bros want to get into the business to me.

“Who goes to prison for smoking a joint any more?”

People in Kansas get their kids taken away, SWAT raids, etc. People driving in Oklahoma with a Colorado plate get stopped.
Yes, a joint is still a nightmare to get caught with in some places.

It’s acceptance as normal will destroy our future generations IMO. The enemies of the USA applaud us doing this destruction to ourselves.

Just like there are people who can handle distilled spirits and those who cannot.

There will be millions who will be destroyed. But there is no way we should use enforced law to rid ourselves of it.

I just read from another source there were 8.6million arrests for pot in the US from 2001 to 2010.

Sure, most of those, by far, were inconsequential or secondary. But it's still too many and the American people are in the process of undoing it.

I wouldnt mind seeing the legalization of it and not for usage reasons because I’m not interested. The millions upon millions wasted and flushed down the tubes and thousands of hours of wasted law enforcement. The effort to enforce this as a crime is just repeating stupid over and over again.

The logic of your reply can and should be applied to all drugs [repeat: all drugs]. On balance, what we are accomplishing in losing the so-called war on drugs is to create incentives to sell drugs, supplying price support for dealers, corrupting our systems of law enforcement, administration of justice, and border patrol, filling our prisons, and trespassing our constitutional liberties.

Our war on drugs has created the grandest multilevel marketing scheme in history.

You have obviously never partaken of the herb, or you would know the govt has been lying to you about it all this time.

That is why more and more states are legalizing it. Too many have found out the truth firsthand. It is less dangerous than booze any day.

Parents who smoke pot should have their children taken away if they leave pot out in open accessible to their children, if they smoke it in front of their children(being high caring for children isnt responsible), if they drive while smoking pot and the children are in the care...basically if they expose their children to them getting high and smoke pot multiple times a day, that’s being an irresponsibe parent

Expecting these people to understand the meaning of the word “hypocrite” is too much.
