Watching the video on CNN it appears that the gun is out.
I don’t know how widespread the shooter’s past is, but when it’s presented to a jury in the civil suit, the city is going to pay big time.
Because everyone from the 911 operator who took the call to the dispatcher and on to the two cops on the scene acted in a thoroughly incompetent and careless manner. And while that may not rise to the level of criminal in the eyes of the authorities I have no doubt that the same comedy of errors that led to this boys death will happen again to some other kid. Because nobody is going to learn from this.

Yes he did. And he had been pulling it out and pointing it a people in the park!

Given that state and local law enforcement officers numbered 1.1 million as of 2008 (we're assuming the number is around that level for 2014), that's a fatality rate of less than 0.0011% for the entire profession.
