Go read the Constitution...there is no such right to a passport.

I think this covers it:

Amendment IX
The enumeration in the Constitution, of certain rights, shall not be construed to deny or disparage others retained by the people.

I listened to a republican congressman yesterday on some radio, (Fox?) talking fast about how they really accomplished much on this new budget.

And I’m thinking, these guys are patting themselves on the back for doing some things that sound kinda stupid to me.

Like for example, why do anything to reduce the harm that Obamacare is doing to the people? Let Obamacare hit with full swing so people will get a clear taste of what the democrats did.

They also did nothing, and have done nothing against the IRS.

My biggest issue with this is good luck getting your passport back and undoing the damage if the IRS makes a mistake.

Nor is there a limitation on a second passport, which is what effect this move will have for people of means.

US citizenship will be a mere status symbol. The real work (for people of means) will happen under the flag of other countries, and under their tax authorities, some of whom will make it easy for US citizens to obtain a passport for economic reasons. It happens today. It will happen more now.

The fact is, if you want freedom of movement in and out of this country, you have to be an illegal.

My biggest issue is that the IRS is now an arm of the Democrat party. As such, all new and old powers will be used to harass, punish, and imprison political opponents.

This one is easy. First contain your victims - keep them from escaping, then pound them until they capitulate and forfeit everything of value.

The IRS cannot have this power. They will abuse it to the benefit of their political benefactors, the DNC.

This passport-talk is on the list of mythical rights.

Go check out the reasons why you can easily be denied a passport. The State Dept can deny you a passport if you are on probation....if you owe more than $1500 in child support payments....if you are wanted on an arrest warrant....if you have a summons to appear in court....if you are currently in jail or facing felony issues.

If you take the time to read the fine-print on the stupid forms they hand you....there are plenty of ways that you can be denied a passport. Perhaps you ought to pick up your glasses and start discovering it’s really not a right.

Also, while you check on that....you might want to confirm that the right to vote....isn’t really much of a right either because various states will say your criminal position or past felony action is enough to deny you that right....it apparently doesn’t exist.

Funny, the Soviet Union and other totalitarian states used to deny their citizens the right of travel. Now we are beginning to do the same. If you think this stops only with owed taxes you haven’t been paying attention.

Remember, when income tax was introduced it was only at a max rate of like 1%, and it only applied to millionaires. Who could object?

The principal here is to deny foreign travel to “bad comrades,” as in the old USSR. The camel’s head is in the tent, the hump is next.

He mentions the anti-gun measures (HR 4296) that Obama has been pushing that will include the IRS going after gun owners and CPS go after gunowners’ children. Vets won’t be able to own firearms until after they have been tested.
