I'm 40 and single. Nice to know that if I can live and stay single for another 30 years, I could maybe marry a woman who hasn't even been born yet and still become a father. Oh well. More power to the guy if he can do it.

John Major’s father was 69 when he was born. George Lazenby was a father of twins at 66.

The guy is crazy. I had my sixth at 45, and am very glad that he has two older brothers.

The actor Tony Randall got married at 75, had two children with his new wife (she was 25 when they married) and died at age 84.

I always found that rather selfish.

John Major’s father was 69 when he was born.

According to Wiki, he was 64. And when Major turned 18, he was two days dead.

The stability of relationships are proportional to financial stability but inversely proportional to the age difference. This guy must be a billionaire.

What specifically is “gross”?

Isn’t that up to the two individuals?

It sounds like he is employed and able to support the child and the mother.

And it sounds like she is onboard as well.

Having no kids when one has an opportunity to have kids and raise them reasonably well can be selfish, but having kids when one isn’t going to be able to follow through with raising them is also selfish.

I understand your point, but selfish when the children wouldn’t exist without him and they will have full lives? Lots and lots of kids growing up with no father. Maybe the woman wanted to have those kids. Etc.

Bringing new American life into the world is “selfish”? I suspect his two kids are pretty happy to have been born (as opposed to never have come into existence).

A child needs a father to guide him during his formative years up to mid thirties.

Well, I’m sure that he would have liked to have been younger when he had the kids, but he almost certainly made arrangements for both his wife and children to be well taken care of.

Using your argument, soldiers likely going to war would be selfish to have kids. Having been a father in that circumstance, I’m sure glad I didn’t constrain myself with thoughts of “I’m selfish if we have a kid now”.

Those kids will know from the start that their Dad loved them and their Mom. Cary Grant kicked up similar dust too, in the late 1960’s with Dyan Cannon. He was ready to live for the benefit of others. Some of us are very late bloomers.

So, the kid grows up with "dad" as old as the hills. "Dad" will ever see his own grandchildren. Selfish. That's what it's all about.
No thought for the children or grandchildren, just for his own nuts procreative ability. SELFISH.
