There may be no more American thing to do than to bemoan the declining state of everyone younger than you. Even Ben Franklin believed the youths of the 1700s fell short of the generations that had gone before. "The best capacities require cultivation, it being truly with them," Franklin said, "as with the best ground, which unless well tilled and sowed with profitable seed, produces only ranker weeds."
A prime catalyst for those fears frequently has been new and evolving technology. In the early 20th century, even bicycles were seen as a tool of immorality, as romantic trysts between young lovers could now take place out of the sight of adults.
But with the growth in mobile "dating" apps, we may be seeing a new technology that will fundamentally change the way humans interact. As detailed in a nightmarish Vanity Fair story penned by Nancy Jo Sales in August, actual face-to-face interaction between couples has all but vanished. Instead, it has been replaced by meaningless physical interaction -- in the story, young men tell tales of sleeping with hundreds of women per year, simply by using apps such as Tinder.
"In February, one study reported there were nearly 100 million people -- perhaps 50 million on Tinder alone -- using their phones as a sort of all-day, every-day, handheld singles club," Sales writes, "where they might find a sex partner as easily as they'd find a cheap flight to Florida."
Tinder and other hookup apps have done to face-to-face dating what Jonas Salk did to polio. And the repercussions are dire.

At my age I’d settle for the cheap flight to florida.

and many women are doing just the same. The younger generation of women may be worse than the guys because its much easier to get men to say yes than the other way around.
“... in the story, young men tell tales of sleeping with hundreds of women per year, simply by using apps such as Tinder.”
That’s because the women, as the old saying goes, “are young, dumb, and full of...something.” Yes, something. What was that something? I can’t remember!
I’ve often wondered what the world would be like if a person could read the mind of every member of the opposite sex they encountered during the day. You’d know which ones thought you were cute, which ones would love to go to bed with you, etc. And without a moral compass, we’ be a rutting nightmare.
These apps kind of simulate that. Its not good.
Last year, when my daughter still lived in university housing, she had a roommate who basically used Tinder as a prostitution app. She ran out of money at one point and didn’t want to go hungry. Tinder to the rescue! She hooked up with 5 guys in a week and had 5 nice meals in restaurants! And all she had to do was have sex with them!!
My daughter couldn’t believe it.
And this is where you will see the more religious crowd starting to pull ahead in numbers of the rest. It is already happening in China. The religious crowd keeps their children away from the more modern communication and entertainment devices until they are old enough to be able to control it. They are having the large families and filling the pews.
The liberals and non-religious, meh!
The women that are ready and willing to sleep with a stranger are super concentrated into one single location virtually via your cell phone. I witnessed 2 friends using it.. a few clicks and they had women calling to meet up. The most difficult part of the process was for them to agree on a meetup time and location due to school or work schedules. One guy had two women drive up to the hotel and pick him up for a night of fun. They were a little chunkier than their profile photos but he decided it was acceptable and jumped in the car.
In the old days, 5 or more years ago, if you wanted to be a horn dog, you had to put in a lot more time. The physics of reality and concentration of willing targets helped keep the spread of disease in check and probably wore people down over time so they would eventually settle down.
Love, that’s it love, yeah, that’s the ticket.
I might buy HER the cheap flight to Florida, single passenger, one way!
...and the pat down with the occasional strip search. That's the best part of flying........
Meh, face to face dating sucks. Lying to each other for 3 hours really isn’t a good way to start a relationship. If 2 people have the chemistry they’ll make a relationship out of it, if they don’t they won’t. The wife and I were supposed to be a quick hookup, 25 years later we’re still on the hook.
Or it turns out you can just ask. Most “successful” dater I ever knew basically asked every girl in high school out, most turned him down, but even if you only have a hit rate of 5% spread across the entire female student body he got a lot of action.
A single professional woman (electrical engineer) described the same scenario to me ... 52 weeks a year with a great Saturday night dinner and entertainment each week ... with a different (schmuck guy) ... I was amazed ...
Those women 20-30 years hence ... ???
Ok, this story works here I think:
A man is picking up a few items at the local grocery store, when an unknown gorgeous blonde at the end of the aisle smiles and waves, he gets closer and still doesn’t recognize her, he says “hello, do I know you?”
The blonde says “I think you’re the father of one of my kids”, and the man panics, thinking of his only indiscretion just before he got married, he says “uhhhh, are you the stripper who was at my bachelor party?!?”
The blonde says “no, I’m your son’s math teacher”.
Disease indeed. This is how super bugs are created. Now the fags AND the hetrosexual are doing it.
I think that's true. I was ready to take a break from dating because I was sick of it, but I was nagged to go on a blind date, and I finally gave in---reluctantly. I wanted to get it over with. From the moment we saw each other, we were impressed, and the dinner itself was different from any other date I'd been on. Something just clicked in a huge way...it was like we'd known each other forever. We were married in '96 and we're going strong today.
