Thank goodness I never have to worry about getting shot by “teens” when I shop at amazon.com. Actually, come to think about it, I don’t have to worry about getting shot by anyone at all for that matter.
Not really. The more scrubbed/less details, the more you know exactly who is involved. They think they are fooling people by omitting info. Maybe the reporters write it and their editors pull it out. I know plentyof folks whjo had editors who’d rewrite a story’on them and pull stuff out and put stuff in.

It’s illegal for “teens” to have guns. It’s also illegal for “teens” to fire guns in malls at people.
So it’s impossible for this event to have ever happened. Literally not possible.

It isn’t a mall anymore but some larger standalone stores are there. It is still a shopping area.

Oh yeah, that was the episode where Steven bought all the boys AK-47s for Christmas so they could protect themselves from neighborhood drug dealers, but the boys disobeyed dad and tricked Bub into driving them to the local mall where they decided to test out their large capacity magazine stocking stuffers. Hilarious hijinks ensued as Bub got clobbered with hot brass that was spraying everywhere.

I don't think the omit this kind of info because they think they will fool anyone. They omit it to prevent lawsuits, visits from Al Sharpton, etc.
Back in the 90s (I think it was) the Philadelphia Inquirer was hit by a series of lawsuits and public protests because they published pictures of criminal suspects in overnight crimes. Pretty much all the pictures had something obvious in common.
This caused a period of intense outcry, and as a result you got the currently acceptable practice of showing a picture of a police car, or of crime scene tape. It was around that time that the showing of perp shots, or of any information identifying the race of a suspect, became verboten. At least if the perp was from a particular ethnic group.

Same here. Malls are gathering places for large groups of black teens who are looking for trouble.
The monorail cars were only large enough for little kids (up to maybe age seven or so). Tiny. They had aluminum skins, and the windows had little wire grilles that were almost large enough to stick your hand through.
Parents let their kids ride on it for years, and I never once heard of a problem with it. Of course, that department store went belly-up decades ago, ironically, they went bust not long after they built an ultra-opulent suburban branch in the nicest enclosed mall in the region.
Now that mall is dying too.
It is all part of the BLM and BCM movements, aka, Black Lies Matter and Black Crime Matters. With an attorney general that is black and named Lynch, what else can we expect?
I was too young for either. Like the Ginger or Mary Ann debates when I was young there were Laurie or Marsha debates. I was always in for Laurie and Mary Ann.
Sure; now they are crime magnets. Just saw on our news that four “youths” from “Essex County” (read: Newark) were arrested in a stolen car at a big mall in a neighboring county. Wal-Mart (basically a mall within one store) opened in my town a few years ago, and they could have their own police station due to the crime there.
Once malls relied on mass transit (probably as much for their workers as the shoppers), it was all over.

And I didn’t even get shot on the way home! It was my Lucky Day here in, ‘The People’s Republik of Madistan.’
I used to feel badly too; then technology (the internet, cell phones) made it impossible to hide these problems from the public anymore.
Michael Brown’s image from the store security camera in Ferguson, in which he’s bullying a smaller, older Asian shopkeeper after stealing cigars from his store, lost him any sympathy with the law-abiding public. The “gentle giant preparing to head off to college” mantra fell flat; he was a dirtbag thug who died for a few cigars. If that footage hadn’t been posted on the internet, we would have NEVER been told the truth.
On a related note, I expect urban blacks to be the first to ask for the removal of police body cameras; rather than “protecting them from police”, they will convict them for juries.
