Same reason the communists hate us, we’re in the way. This would be true no matter what foreign policy we followed, including compete isolationism.
Of the Mosques and their attendees I know, some are very pro-American. Some are very anti-American. I’ve been in a position to eaves-drop on conversations between members of the competing Mosques. Very interesting.
On month after 9/11 in Oct 2001 all the Muslim men disappeared from the IT classes in a local college. Nobody knew why. A lot of wild speculations. In December one of them returned to pick up some of their personal items. It turns out all of them volunteered to be translators for the US Government (unnamed security agencies). Many of them became translators in Iraq for the troops... a high casualty position. They volunteered for danger in defense of the USA.
The broad brush just does not apply.
Yes, a significant minority of Muslims are anti-American.
Yes, the majority of Muslims are silent. They want to go to work, take care of their family.... and avoid politics. That is no different than most Christians, Bhuddists and Hindus.
Yes, a significant minority are very pro-American and anti-terrorist.

Yes, they definitely do hate us. They have repeatedly admitted this. And our reaction? Admit them to the USA.

On the other hand, when I lived in Saudi Arabia in the 90s most Muslims I encountered harbored a loathing for America.
I suspect that the Muslims who do not follow the Koran regarding infidels were mostly raised in western countries.
Bingo! Learn it, love it, believe it. BTW, Islam is NOT a religion. It is a way of life, an ideology with it's own laws that require complete obedience and compliance or face the threat of death or dismemberment. It is a evil force in this world and I believe is the prince of all evil's force, i.e. Satan. Yes, it is a satanic cult pure and simple.

The other thing the geniuses at Foreign Policy forget is that Islamic jihad is active worldwide, in countries that have no strong ties to Western civilization or American foreign policy.

When you are doing Allah's work this doesn't have to be accomplished next week or next year, or in your lifetime.
It took the Muslims centuries to overcome the Christian nations in the mid-East; but they did it.
