Far right in France stung by humiliating defeat in regional elections

The second leg of regional elections was held in France on Sunday and, after a spectacular showing in the first vote held last week, Marine Le Pen's National Front party failed to win a single region.

Reuters:

Marine Le Pen's far-right National Front did not win any region in French elections on Sunday, in a setback to her hopes of being a serious presidential contender in 2017.

The regional election run-off, in which the conservatives won seven constituencies and the Socialists five, was no real victory for either of these two mainstream parties, shaken by the far-right's growing appeal to disillusioned voters.

Boosted by fears about security and immigration after the Islamist militant attacks in Paris a month ago that killed 130 people, the National Front (FN) had won more votes than any other party nationally in last week's first round.

Although it won no region on Sunday after the Socialists pulled out of its key target regions and urged their supporters to back the conservatives of former President Nicolas Sarkozy, the FN still recorded its best showing in its history.

"Tonight, there is no place for relief or triumphalism," Socialist Prime Minister Manuel Valls said. "The danger posed by the far right has not gone away; far from it."

Sarkozy struck a similar theme, calling the strong FN showing a "warning sent to all politicians, ourselves included, in the first round".

"We now have to take the time for in-depth debates about what worries the French, who expect strong and precise answers," he said, citing Europe, unemployment, security and national identity issues.

Le Pen, who had hoped to use regional power as a springboard to boost her chances in 2017 presidential elections, lost by a huge margin in northern France on Sunday,

On the contrary, the patriotic FN is battering the gates of one of the NWO prime satrapies. A few years ago the FN was dismissed as marginal, and now they have shaken the rotten EUro establishment. And... This has just begun.

What does Far Right mean for FN anyway? I could have sworn its leader(s) were either married to a Jewish guy or else somehow related to one, and Le Pen even condemned Trump’s Muslim moratorium. So “far right” can’t mean anti-Semitic.

No bias in the headline...

Far right in France stung by humiliating defeat in regional elections = the FN still recorded its best showing in its history.

So the lefties pulled back and urged the sheep in their pastures to graze for a little while with the “moderate” sort of pseudo right wing in order to hold back the closest thing to a conservative movement France could field?

Sounds like a playbook that might happen elsewhere in the first half of 2016... Or something similar with a twist to the left instead of the center.

The curtain came open a bit to expose the true nature of the French version of the uniparty. “ the Socialists pulled out of its key target regions and urged their supporters to back the conservatives of former President Nicolas Sarkozy”

Keep in mind that the Socialists colluded with the French version of the RINO’s (the conservatives) and pulled their candidates and told their supporters to vote for the conservative candidate instead - all just to keep the FN out.

France is split just like we are - with the stupid mushy middle vacillating back an forth every few years.

Maybe after Paris is the recipient of an Iranian nuke they will head solidly to the right....

If anyone reads the whole article you’ll see this analysis:

There were two main reasons for the results; 1) the pullout of the socialists who would have split the anti-National Front vote and given Le Pen a decisive victory; and 2) ginned up media hysteria over fears of “fascism.”

The cynical ploy by the socialists was also a way to avoid showing how weak President Hollande is outside of his Socialist Party strongholds. Part of the rise of National Front can be attributed to falling approval ratings for Hollande who is getting high marks for his response to the terrorist attack, but worries over immigration and the glacial pace of the economy are driving his numbers down

The truly sinister thing at work, is that the US and the EU constituent nations have all been subverted by an elite that places more value on vague, but legally binding, globalist restraints an obligations than on national interests and national sovereignty.

We are witnessing the most breathtaking sweep of sedition in history. The only thing comparable were the efforts of the Persian empire to undermine the Greek city states in the classical era. The transnational putsch, where NGOs matter more than governments and constituencies, is the greatest danger in our time.

FN, God bless them, and others, are just now beginning to push back. We must win this in multiple nations, or we will all be serfs in our own lands.

What a completely deceitful headline.

If you look at the vote totals, the NF got the highest number of votes it has ever achieved.

It is still the same old line. What the voters say they want and how they vote are two different things.

“Far Right” in Europe means not wanting to hand over Europe on a silver platter to muslims.

On the bright side what is referred to far right in France is equivalent to moderate left (aka Rino’s) in the U.S. so it has no reflection on the strength of the American conservative movement.

Actually the big losers were the socialists. They were such big losers that they pulled out of many of the regional elections to give the “conservatives a chance to win. The strategy worked to defeat FN, but FN succeeded in moving the country to the right.

In modern Europe, “far right” or “right wing” is a generic insult.

"Tonight, there is no place for relief or triumphalism," Socialist Prime Minister Manuel Valls said. "The danger posed by the far right has not gone away; far from it."

The Paris attacks are exactly a month old, and they're already back to calling anyone who isn't Muslim or on the Left the "real danger". Stunning.

Le Pen, who had hoped to use regional power as a springboard to boost her chances in 2017 presidential elections, lost by a huge margin in northern France on Sunday,

Marine Le Pen lost 42% to 58%, after the socialists joined with the Republicans. In a three-way race, she would have won. Hardly a "huge margin".

Her niece in the south of France lost 45-55.

Not a bad showing for a party which was looked at as a "radical fringe" group not too many years ago.
