Once again our national security agencies failed at detecting dangerous terrorists. ... Who knew that collecting massive amounts of irrelevant data on tens of millions of innocent Americans unrelated to terrorism does not prevent terrorist attacks? Actually, making the data haystack bigger makes it harder to find the needle.
Like the country music song “Looking For Love in All the Wrong Places,†our country is determined to look for terrorists in all the wrong places. Our government responded by patting down grandmothers and young children at airport security screening, after the trauma of the terrorist attacks on September 11, while waving through single, military-age, foreign Islamic men in particular with broken English but excellent Arabic and Farsi.
Similarly, self-proclaimed national security hawks now have renewed calls to collect surveillance on tens of millions of innocent Americans. They don’t want to track actual terrorists or monitor high-risk persons or institutions. Fake hawks like Sens. Marco Rubio, John McCain and Lindsey Graham and Jeb Bush want to get tough with innocent U.S. citizens. Yet these Gen. Patton imitators do not want to zero in on those who actually pose real dangers.
Yet our massive, warrantless, dragnet surveillance of the entire country failed – again. People accessing al-Qaida’s website from America would raise red flags. A man who travels to the Middle East and returns with his new wife while also reading Inspire online should be noticed.

(I am so SICK of “well-intended”!) Why can’t people see that most of the “good ideas” are disasters in the making? They are letting emotions guide their decisions and hat’s a good way to go out of business ... as a company and as a country.
Safety is used as justification, but I tend to doubt it’s about safety at all.
Yes, the many American secret services - with all their multi-million-dollar gadgets - failed to alert anyone about the Sen Bernardino terrorists.
On the plus side, however, they’re keeping a vigilant eye on all of America’s political conservatives.

We obviously don’t have enough watchers and have imported too many “dooers”.
The problem is it not I n collecting information but in interpreting it. The authorities knew about the Boston bomber but cleared him after an investigation. They investigated these guys in California yet did not stop them. They knew about the Arizona guys who attacked the cartoon convention but did nothing.
What makes anyone think the next shoe will be different?
