Call of Officers for Citizens to Carry Accelerates, becomes Trend

Police Chief Randy Kennedy

Sheriffs and police chiefs from jurisdictions large and small are joining the trend of law officers calling for citizens to carry firearms to aid in the defense against terrorism, rampage killings, and violent criminals.  The call is a simple recognition of the millennia old understanding that people can defend themselves and others better if they are armed.

It is only during the recent history of the last hundred years that the illusion of safety through disarmament has been promoted by the mass media.  The mass media's chokehold on information flow has been broken and the illusion is failing.

Sheriff Joe Arpaio has called for help from citizens in his state to aid in defense against terror threat.  Maricopa County, Arizona has a population of over 4 million residents.

Surrounded by his posse, Sheriff Joe Arpaio asked armed citizens to help protect malls this holiday season. Arpaio says nearly 250,000 Arizonans carry concealed weapons and many more are carrying in the open.

"I'm asking for that group to make sure that if some violent activity occurs that they take action to defend themselves, and also the people around them until law enforcement shows up," said Arpaio

Milwaukee County Wisconsin has a population of nearly a million.  Sheriff Clarke has called for his citizens to arm themselves for self defense.

Detroit, Michigan has a population of over 700,000 people.  Police Chief James Craig says that armed citizens can stop terrorists.  From detroitnews.com:

"A lot of Detroiters have CPLs (concealed pistol licenses), and the same rules apply to terrorists as they do to some gun-toting thug, Chief James Craig said. "If you're a terrorist, or a carjacker, you want unarmed citizens."

We currently have an armed burglar hiding in somewhere in our neighborhood. .he shot a homeowner (he’s ok) when he returned home to find him...the homeowner had a gun too...unfortunately we do not have castle doctrine here...homeowners are afraid to end up in jail.

Merely history repeating itself. Just as in the Old West a citizen had no idea what they might face during the day, so they armed themselves, we’re being called upon to do the same thing nowadays.

“An armed society is a polite society. Manners are good when one may have to back up his acts with his life.” Robert Heinlein

The same can’t be said of idiotic “gun-free zones,” which only encourage mass murder.

There was also a sheriff in NY, and another in Brevard county, FL, both of whom advised the same thing.

And the advantage to this approach is that, unlike uniformed officers, people with the intent to do harm - whether terrorists or not, will never know who is armed. Is the “redneck” with the NRA cap or the soccer mom with two little kids...?

That's one reason (of many) why I feel most states have it backwards. Concealed carry should require no permit. Open carry should require a permit.

How about dropping the permit requirement?

Cops have to presume your carrying anyway when they pull you over.

“Presumed carry” is the way to go.

Meanwhile, our wonderful president - always with the safety and welfare of Americans in mind - seeks to curtail firearms ownership and restrict Americans’ access to the means of self-defense.

It’s nice to see some in the government concerned about protecting the people and their rights than the plight of the Daeshi....

Oops! did I say that out loud?

It is the ONLY sensible response to criminal and terrorist activity.

If the would be murderers are aware there are no “gun free” or “safe” targets, they are thus deterred in the first place.

There’s no need to argue whether someone carrying concealed will actually be in position to stop the attack.

If the gun grabbers want to debate “realistic solutions”, just ask them which is more “realistic”;

1-Demonstrating there are no “safe” places to attack?
2-Confiscating 300 Million privately owned weapons?

Yep, a DEM sheriff in NY advised it. Then several more did also I believe. Our local talk show guy is a good enough sort, but a pants wetter on the topic of guns. Well, the other day he was interviewing the newly elected (republican-first-time-in-thiry-some-years) DA and asked him what he thought about such advice! Wasn’t it dangerous? Wasn’t it too reactive? Wasn’t it irresponsible?

The DA answered calmly, “It’s a good idea” and “These people have earned their permits, and they have every right to carry.” and “With this very real threat of terrorism, you need to be able to act”. That sort of stuff. The talk show host kinda lost his huff-n-puff and settled down when face to face with a DA who was calming enforcing the advice to carry.

These sheriffs and chiefs can see the trend of nationalization and neutralization of local police forces and are making the appropriate recommendations to the citizenry.
