Trump County, USA - America’s most reliable bellwether county has fallen for the wild man []

he most accurate pundits in the history of American presidential politics reside far from the Beltway, on a 403-square mile patch of land along the western border of Indiana. At the intersections of U.S. Highways 40 and 41, and off Interstate 70, you find yourself in Vigo County, with its 108,000 residents and its ho-hum county seat, Terre Haute, situated along the Wabash River. Terre Haute is the land of Clabber Girl Baking Powder-and its citizens call it the "Crossroads of America." It's the place where both Democratic Sen. Evan Bayh and labor leader and Social Democratic Party founder Eugene Debs were born, and home to the U.S. penitentiary where the Oklahoma City bomber Timothy McVeigh died.

And, in nearly every presidential election since 1888, voters here in this blue-collar county have selected the winning candidate, missing only twice: Once, in 1908, when they opted for Williams Jennings Bryan instead of William Howard Taft, and again in 1952, when they chose Adlai Stevenson rather than Dwight D. Eisenhower.

Trump has no chance at all of winning a general election.

Democrats are hoping and praying that Trump wins. This is why he gets so much media coverage.

The other polls outside of the CNN poll should be updated in the next few days, I assume there will be a big bump for Trump there also.

The MSM=DNC think otherwise.

Your concern is duly mocked and ridiculed.

With all the stats mentioned, this is an opinion piece. There is no empirical data backing up the title suggesting Vigo county is going Trump’s way.

You are approaching Yogi Berra level insight...

Trump has no chance at all of winning a general election...because he is too popular.

Opinion polls are not general elections, and the next general election is almost a year away.

So not true.

The truth is simple: Trump plays the media, and goes over the heads of the media better than any candidate since Reagan.

I'm a Cruz first guy, but you have to give Trump kudos for the way in which he has shaken up this race, the issues he's targeted, and the way he's played the democrat/media complex.

Nobody’s gonna vote for him because everyone is too busy talking about him.

Well I’m hoping and pray that he wins the nomination too cause I think it’s going to be a landslide for Trump.

This county went for Reagan and the younger Bush, but returned to its Democrat tradition with Clinton and Obama. Interestingly, it is a non-elitist, predominantly white county outside Greater New England (New England proper, upstate New York, Michigan, Wisconsin, Minnesota, and the northern one-third of Illinois, Indiana, and Ohio) and the West Coast that has not switched sides. Democrat loyalties remain strong here even as old strongholds like Arkansas, Kentucky, and West Virginia turn Republican.

These are Reagan Democrats, and if they switch to the GOP to support Trump, assuming he receives the party's Presidential nomination, the electoral map we have seen for the last two decades is obsolete. Ohio, Pennsylvania, Colorado, Florida, Michigan, Wisconsin, New Hampshire, and even New Jersey may be in play.
