Mainland Russia has started supplying electricity to Crimea after the first power bridge to the peninsula was completed across the Kerch Strait. Crimea has had a partial blackout since November 22, after power lines in Ukraine were sabotaged.
The energy bridge will deliver 200 MW of electricity a day from the Krasnodar region in mainland Russia starting from Thursday. Another 200 MW will be delivered by a second power cable expected to be connected by December 20.
This will cover 80-90 percent of Crimea's energy needs, according to Russian Energy Minister Aleksandr Novak. He says another 400 MW energy bridge will be constructed by May 2016.

Fortunately the Russians refused to take advice from CalTrans after they learned that the San Francisco Bay Bridge replacement, originally scheduled to open in 2007, had several problems that delayed the opening until September 2, 2013, even though the Bay Bridge Bolts Show More ‘Ominous’ Cracks, and May Not Even Be Safe To Drive On.

200 megawatts a day? That's like saying you drove at a speed of fifty miles.
It just delivers 200 megawatts of power. There's no need to add a time.
You are correct, many media writers do not understand the technology they write about and incorrectly select the units of measurement applied. Others just can’t write.
Russia is the biggest terrorist organization in the world. It’s hard work trying to cover that up!
