Carson is a jerk. Every crime is a hate crime. Has anyone ever heard of a love crime?

After there has been a crime, police and prosecutors try to ascertain the motive.
I’m not a Carson supporter but in all fairness I think he was making fun of the term ‘hate crime’ in a backhanded way.

The more I hear and read of Dr. Carson, the more I question his intelligence. Logic just seems to avoid him...
But “hate crime” adds additional penalties for what one is thinking - ala Orwellian Thought Police.
The Judicial System should convict and punish the act - not the thought.
In addition, “hate crimes” are always white-on-black...and that’s pure racism and another example of the fascism of political correctness.
So everyone who causes a death should be charged the same regardless of motivation?
So, what’s wrong with calling it a hate crime? These nutjobs were probably Islamists, which means they hated “infidels”, America, the West and other things. They certainly didn’t do it for the Hell of it.
If Carson called it an act of war, I wouldn’t doubt him on that, either (jihad). I’m sure people would be crticizing and posting Facepalm pictures over such a comment as well.

I once heard a top of the hour news broadcast by ABC news wherein the newsreader used the term “hate murder”. When is murder not an act of hate?
