I MAY be able to support this plan (if Trump is not the nominee) IF I could see a source for Cruz stating that he will cut off all Federal Benefits to illegals.
Got anything on that? Or anchor babies...or Welfare for the anchor babies?
Sincerely.
Read it again. He says “after that” and “then.”
It’s in his written plan.
* Prohibit illegal immigrants from receiving financial benefits and strengthen E-Verify. American taxpayers should not be funding benefits for those who are here illegally, and American jobs should not go to those who are here illegally.
It makes sense to secure the border to keep those deported from reentry. He thinks that will be a matter of months. All other components run concurrently.
Wishful thinking does not really set policy.
Deportation is the only way.
While they are allowed to stay (which equals amnesty) they will have thousands of anchor babies, they will commit thousands of crimes, they will steal millions of jobs under the table.
If have been hearing a call for this since Reagan, good luck getting fines for employers through Congress and if you do try getting it enforced.
“Are we going to hope that the ISIS goons that cross over the border make their way back as well?”
Excellent point.
Why did it take Cruz months to say this? Too wimpy, too late. I switched to a strong leader months ago.
Check is in the mail. The courts have said that politicians are allowed to lie in campaigns. That does not apply to supporters.
“Five times as many illegals self deported during Operation Wetback as were deported through the program. “
That’s why only Trump’s plan works. Only if they know they will be deported will they leave. Trump won’t have to deport them all, but heeds to say he will and be willing to do so.
Waiting for them to do it themselves, hoping they don’t commit crimes or have anchor babies in the meantime, isn’t the most effective way.
Cruz’s plan calls for ending anchor babies. It is ridiculous to say that removing welfare and employment will not cause self deportation. For example, 85% of illegals in California are on public assistance. I would not be surprised to learn that the percentage holds true in other states, as well.
The more leverage we can use on all these fronts, the better to reach our goals of getting illegal immigration under control for the final phase. Cruz’s plan calls for increased deportations as these measures are implemented. Deporting the criminals and welfare recipients will cut a huge swath right there.
Illegals already aren't supposed to be on public assistance. Illegals get it through their kids and through fraud. Crus, Carson, the GOPe et al. when they talk about getting "illegals off welfare" are just giving cute talking points.
Why don’t you go crawl back in Donald’s lap.
In other words, Cruz, who is still using the 11 million number for illegals, is setting us up to tell us that the "border is enforced," and therefore we should now talk about giving legal status to those who remain.
No thanks Cruz.
God, I’m glad he’s ending anchor babies.
So he will deport those on welfare? Oh wait, if they’re not on welfare they will have jobs. Under the counter jobs because of E-verify. So many that currently have under the counter jobs would just stay. There would have to be very strong and enforced actions against employers that hire illegals.
I like Cruz’s plan, don’t get me wrong. But I love Trump’s plan. I waited months for Cruz to say anything about illegals and gave up eventually. Trump came out of the gate strong.
But either is heads above any other candidate’s plan. I’ve been waiting since the days of Tancredo for another candidate to take this seriously. And now we have 2 that have a good chance to win ;)
I meant ‘good’
Cruz calls for strict E verify measures and enforcement against employers hiring illegals. I think it would be good to add a reward system to those who turn in employers hiring illegals, as another Freeper said.
Cruz has always had this plan. It just frustrated me so that he hasn’t pushed it before now.
They never know.
I was frustrated too. I kept defending him on the H1Bs and his silence in the beginning, saying he had a plan and would explain it. Took him long enough!
Yes, yes, LOVE the idea of rewarding informants. Otherwise it will be hard to catch the dishonest employers. Just making an example of a few would be a good start. The fine needs to be big with jail an option.
