Emergency at 35,000ft: Plane passenger saved by ‘Doctor Angel’

A physician has been nicknamed Dr Angel after her swift response and ability to turn everyday items into medical equipment saved a man's life at 35,000 feet on Thanksgiving.
Dr Patricia Quinlan was travelling from Philadelphia to San Francisco with her family when she saw the man fall out of a seat in front of her.
She quickly realized he had not simply fallen asleep, and was actually in dire straights, with a weak pulse and dangerously low blood pressure.

At first reading, I thought she used her own hair as a tourniquet. Now that’s resourceful! Reread it, oh, it was her hair tie! Still resourceful. Smart lady.

Some people are pretty resourceful. Several years ago there was a bad accident in front of me. A young boy in the car had a nasty impact wound on his head that was really gushing. I managed to stop the bleeding with pressure. Someone I never saw handed me a freshly opened bag of white cotton T shirts. Great improvised compresses. Someone was bring then home from shopping I suppose and repurposed them.
