I'm rooting for the conservative and hoping he has a better ground game and more dedicated group of core supporters than the big-government-loving populist.

We've never had a better opportunity to elect a true conservative. Settling for Trump would be a sorry consolation prize.

Cruz isn't as "purely" conservative as he claims to be or you think he is.

The answer why they are saying Cruz is the favorite is that even NRO wants to knock off Trump. Once they do that, they will attempt to shred Cruz. The strategy is so clumsy that anyone can see it coming.

I don’t believe Cruz’s sudden, “Road To The White House,” conversion on immigration.

Twelve months ago Cruz supported more H-1B visas, more Green Cards, more LEGAL immigration from China and Mexico, and “temporary” work permits for all illegal immigrants who have obeyed all other USA laws.

One does have to go further back to find Trump calling self-deportation "maniacal" - but IMHO a vote for any current candidate will require some degree of nose-holding, and Cruz is overall less of a wild card than others.

I basically agree, C.F.

I have never supported Trump, and I will not vote for Trump.

If Cruz is our nominee, I will almost certainly vote for Cruz.

But to my eye, the most critical political issue for American Conservatives is still LEGAL immigration.

80% of new American citizens vote for the Democrat Party. And Cruz has no plan, and no personal conviction, to reduce LEGAL immigration.

A vote for Cruz may slow down our Conservative political suicide, but there is no reason to believe it will stop it.
