Right, he wants to be unpredictable.
I can’t remember which interview it was where he was asked about how he didn’t answer questions with specifics in the debate. He calmly looked the reporter in the eye and said very clearly, without his usual sentence fragments and phrase repetitions, that he choses how he speaks and when he deems the time is right, he will be very specific.
I think some of what we see is an act, designed to get enemies to underestimate him and also, to appeal to more people using common language.

Unless there’s something else out there, they’ll just keep banging away with the same old.
It’s why he’s in good shape with Trump taking the bulk of the fire.
