San Francisco – The Electronic Frontier Foundation (EFF) and Visualizing Impact launched Onlinecensorship.org today, a new platform to document the who, what, and why of content takedowns on social media sites. The project, made possible by a 2014 Knight News Challenge award, will address how social media sites moderate user-generated content and how free expression is affected across the globe.
Controversies over content takedowns seem to bubble up every few weeks, with users complaining about censorship of political speech, nudity, LGBT content, and many other subjects. The passionate debate about these takedowns reveals a larger issue: social media sites have an enormous impact on the public sphere...

This sounds like a great idea, but I suspect it will only be used for Left-Leaning "Correct" posters and take-downs.
They mention "Freedom for Palestine" and LGBT issues, but nothing about PC take downers.

Onlinecensorship.org seeks to encourage social media companies to operate with greater transparency and accountability toward their users as they make decisions that regulate speech. We’re collecting reports from users in an effort to shine a light on what content is taken down, why companies make certain decisions about content, and how content takedowns are affecting communities of users around the world.

Sounds good so far.

This is bad very bad idea! More free speech not less! It is important to know who the morons and real bigots are etal, so they can be shunned. I will decide for myself who these people are, not some self styled arbiter of good and bad! I trust myself and no one else!!!

How much free speech is there when conservative voices get their twitter accounts suspended because a small number of people with zombie accounts report “abuse” with the express purpose of suppressing that speech. The practice is common and effective. It's not right.
