Poll: By a wide margin, Americans oppose bringing Syrian refugees into the country

A new Bloomberg poll shows that a significant majority of Americans oppose bringing Syrian refugees into the U.S.  By a 53-to-28 margin, Americans disagree with President Obama and many Democrats about admitting the refugees.  Another 11% think that only Christian Syrians should be allowed in.

The poll also shows that terrorism concerns about ISIS have risen to the top of American's concerns.

More broadly, terrorism and the Islamic State group surged to the top of Americans’ concerns immediately following the deadly attacks, even as Republicans and Democrats remain divided over how best to address threats. The percentage of those rating terrorism or the Islamic State as top concerns has nearly doubled since the poll last was taken in September. At the same time, those who think the U.S. is on the right track fell to 23 percent, the lowest rating in more than three years. Obama’s disapproval rating rose to 51 percent, up 4 percentage points since September.

These trends may offer momentum to the Republican leaders of Congress as they begin hearings and consider threatening a government shutdown over Obama’s Syria policies, even as 64 percent of Americans say Islam is an inherently peaceful religion.

Terror in general, and specifically ISIS, the group that claimed responsibility for last week’s attacks, are cited by a combined 35 percent of Americans as the top issue in the survey conducted Nov. 15-17. That’s about the same as concerns about jobs, immigration, health care and the federal deficit combined. ISIS alone is the top issue for 21 percent of Americans, up from 11 percent in September. Terrorism is the top issue for 14 percent, up from 7 percent two months ago.

Despite ongoing tensions between the U.S. and Russia, 53 percent of Americans favor a U.S.-Russia military coalition

There is an issue with bringing Syrian "Christians" here - many are liars who claim to be Christian as a tactic to more easily infiltrate decent areas. There is a problem with not bringing Syrian Christians here - many will be burned to death in cages, beheaded, or otherwise killed in whatever brutal manner will entertain Obama's friends on the JV team called ISIS. When you put a bigoted thug in charge as the leader of the free world, you run out of pleasant options.

Trump and Cruz.

You've also got to wonder about this statement: Another 11% think that only Christian Syrians should be allowed in.

Probably more than double that number would have responded the same if they weren't in fear of the PC Gestapo. It is very real.

It Only Took a Reporter 4 Days to Buy a Syrian Passport, ID and Driver License.

A Daily Mail reporter says it only took him four days to buy a Syrian passport, ID and driver license from a forger.

Reporter Nick Fagge traveled to Turkey to meet with the forger, and he paid him $2,000 for the documents. Fagge said on Fox and Friends that the forger told him that members of ISIS are buying these documents so that they can travel into Europe and hide among refugees.

The #1 function of government is protecting its citizens from harm by nations and people from outside the country. The #2 function is administering a justice system to protect the citizens inside the country. The #3 function is to provide laws governing commerce makes the nation prosperous. Making the world safe for democracy, feeding the poor, resettling refugees, educating the young, providing healthcare, or any of the other functions the progressives administering the modern welfare state wish to tackle aren’t even mentioned in the Constitution.

The 9/11 hijackers were non citizens who received visas from the government (i.e. were vetted by the government). Every year thousands of US citizens are killed inside the US by illegal or legal immigrants admitted to the country as a result of federal government action or the failure of the government to secure the borders.
Countless others are injured or harmed by criminal activity conducted insider the borders of the US by legal or illegal non-citizen residents.

My question for progressives, given that protecting the citizens is the #1 and #2 priorities of the government, is simply — “For any immigration or refugee resettlement policy you propose, how many lives of American citizens should we as a nation be willing to accept to enact your policy.” Is it 0, 1, 10, 100, 1000, 10000, 1 million?” At what level of deaths or injuries caused by the people admitted would you be insisting on the immigrants or refugees being deported?

If the answer is 0, then we should be admitting no one. If the answer is more than 0 then government is not performing its primary function. A truly free and independent press, or a real opposition party, would be putting this question to Obama and forcing him to answer it. If we were having a real national debate on refugee resettlement the number of American lives at risk would be the central issue in the debate.

The absence of a real debate on the real issue is telling. Paul Ryan, Mitch McConnell and all of the GOP presidential candidates, except Trump, don’t want to frame the issue in terms of American citizens being killed. Certainly the Democrats, by deflecting the issue to one of “values”, aren’t going to face the issue head on unless forced to by the GOP or the press. The press, controlled by the progressive movement groupthink isn’t going to force the issue to be debated in terms of deaths of Americans.

Trump seems to be the only leader in public life prepared to address the fear American citizens have of admitting terrorists into the country. Why?

About the same wide margin as those who would now avoid unprotected sex with Charlie Sheen.

Maine Governor Paul LePage will not allow Syrians to settle in Maine.

The polls show that 87% of Mainers support his decision.

The govt. is supposed to carry out the will of the people.

But the Obama regime and their willing accomplices in the GOPe don’t adhere to this philosophy. We need another American revolution.

I have some Christian Syrian neighbors. They have first hand accounts from family members of the horrors of this war. Even THEY do not believe that these refugees should be allowed in. Most of them are Muslims of the very sort who persecuted them back home.

“We should NOT accept any immigrants from Muslim countries until the war is over...”

First, we need a new president to declare war on

Then, we find the immigrants and handle them like we did immigrant Germans in America, during WWII.

LOL - good one... 'immigrant Germans' in WWII were called 'spies' and we shot or imprisoned them. (WWII was before the time of 'the Great Stupidity' - ushered in by democrats in 2008)

The congress would do themselves and the country a big favor by inviting people such as your neighbors to testify before congressional hearings to consider closing or at least slowing the refugee spigot. Would they be willing to do so?

If so, then we ought to write our congressional representative urging such hearings.
