Governor Christie’s Presidential Bid Loses Support of New Jersey Republicans (Trunc)

Support for Governor Chris Christie’s presidential bid has dropped in half among New Jersey Republicans over the last four months. Back in June, 18 percent of registered Republicans said they supported him for his party’s presidential nomination. Today that number is down to nine percent, according to the most recent statewide survey of registered voters in New Jersey from Fairleigh Dickinson University’s PublicMind.

The big vote getter is business magnate and political neophyte, Donald Trump, who attracts the support of 31 percent of Republicans, with Florida Senator Marco Rubio surging to second with the support of 18 percent. Rounding out the list of those in the double digits is Dr. Ben Carson, who registers 11 percent support in New Jersey.

Another State poll like FL, CT, and NH today. Out-liar CO from Quinnipiac seems whistling in the dark.

Trump 31, Rubio 18, Carson 11, Christie 9, Cruz 6 in this one

That's OK, he'll win without them.

Christie may be the meanest dog in the pack, which as of this week earns him a few points in my book.

I do not get Rubio being ahead of Cruz. Rubio is an empty suit. No noteworthy accomplishments, a devious liar, pro amnesty, beholden to special interests, talks like a robot as he repeated memorized answers, and possibly has a closet full of skeletons.

Above all, he is not qualified to be president. Both of his parents were Cuban citizens when he was born. The Democrats will surely make a huge deal out of this and scare away voters should this lightweight get the nomination.

He still looks like a turd in a suit! No way someone that looks like he does belongs as our president.

Sad day when voters turn a Presidential election into a literal beauty contest; somewhat of a reflection on how vapid our society has become.

I like Christie’s directness and no BS language, I think he needs to stay governor for a while and see what things look like in the future, after he wises up a bit. This is not his time.

I learned all I needed to know when he was hugging Obama a few days prior to the election.

Almost none of the GOP wannabes are winning their own home states.

That speaks volumes about how they would do in the general, if they did manage to eek out the nomination.

Cruz tied in Texas. No one else is close at home. You are right

Wrong!! I don’t give a damn if our president is the most unphotogenic person on the planet. That said, being president is (in normal circumstances, present occupant of the White Hut excepted) a physically demanding job. Take a look at the current crop of world leaders, and I doubt you will find someone shaped like Chris Christie. Personally, I like Chris, he’s had a lot of good things to contribute to the primary discussion, and he’s a no-nonsense guy out of the same mold as Trump. But you can’t look like Fatty Arbuckle at say it’s o.k.
