Trump Leads National Poll Of GOP Primary Voters [Trump 31% Carson 22% Cruz 13% YouGov America]

Businessman Donald Trump was back on top of the Republican presidential contest according to a national poll released Monday by the University of Massachusetts Amherst.

The survey, conducted by YouGov America under the direction of the UMass Poll, found that Trump polled at 31 percent among likely GOP primary voters compared to retired surgeon Ben Carson's 22 percent. The closest opponent of the battling frontrunners was Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) at 13 percent while Sen. Marco Rubio (R-FL) polled at 9 percent.

When asked who their second choice for the Republican nomination would be, respondents who supported Trump chose Carson and vice versa. Trump and Carson also were the overwhelming choices for the candidates who have the best chance at winning at 40 and 24 percent, respectively, according to the survey.

Trump ought to get with Glen Beck and find out about such effective resettlement plans as that of Slovenia. They spend $2500 to resettle a family of 4, which includes language lessons so that all the able bodied members of a family can go to WORK instead of being a foreign parasite with nothing better to do than get on Face Book and plan attacks against their host country. Catholic Charities and Lutheran Refugee Services would be put out of the fat government subsidy game if we let Slovenia do the job.

My take is that Cruz is starting to consolidate the support of the small conservative third-tier candidates like Jindal, Paul, Santorum, Huckabee, etc. Rubio seems to be doing the same with the GOP-E third tiers like Christie, Kasich, etc.

I don’t think they’re making much inroads into Trump or Carson’s support.

JMO: There is a surprisingly large group comprised of what I’ll call “low information Christian voters”. Don’t get me wrong — I mean no disrespect for this group. But they don’t pay close attention to politics (often because they’re spending much of their time in service to the LORD).

This group has latched on to the idea that Ben Carson is a) a devout Christian and b) a political outsider and c) a “good guy”, and that’s ALL they need — or care — to know. They read one of his feel-good books and see him on a talk show once or twice, and the hook is set.

I don’t think this condition is healthy, because his supporters are not looking past his “goodness” to see if he can actually DO THE JOB.

Then again I’m not too worried about it, because I also don’t think their allegiance is permanent.
