After a week in which he hosted Saturday Night Live and stood center-stage at a Republican debate, Donald Trump is surging among Republicans likely to cast votes in the party’s presidential primary.

According to the five-day rolling Reuters/Ipsos presidential poll, Trump has leapt some 17 percentage points among likely Republican voters since Nov. 6, when he was essentially tied with Ben Carson at about 25 percent. Trump now captures 42 percent of those voters while Carson has fallen off slightly.

The reports of Trump's demise have been greatly exaggerated.

It is as I have said... I don’t need to know whom to vote for, I only need to know whom the MSM doesn’t like. The vetting of Carson needed to take place. If Trump wasn’t going to do it the Dems certainly would have in November. If Carson can’t survive Trump’s questions about his past he certainly would not have survived the general election.

IHMO his demeanor on stage in regards to Dr Carson as of late has been at best boorish, and that is being polite. However, isn't it ironic the more the E-GOP tries to thrust either Jepito Press 2 for English, Marco Rubio, or a Brokered Convention on us, the more the base screeds back no more insiders, it's illegal immigration Stoopid.

I think it's time for all FReepers to rally behind Trump. It's obvious that he is the only candidate who gets the danger that all of these illegals and muslim imports bring to our way of life and the only one who has the balls to go after the crimes of Obama and his cronies once in office.

I for one will write in his name if he is not on my ballot next November.

He’ll drop out.

He’ll implode.

He’ll fail to file his tax returns.

He won’t file his paper work.

Wait....

The Paris attacks only bolster his candidacy and relegate the amnesty whores to single digits.

42% is amazing with so many opponents.

Politics isn’t bean bag.

Trump quoted Carson, that is using Carson’s own words against him Very Fair Game

Carson is Risky he has a Sharpton Problem, and he said himself he isn’t conservative, even wrote it. Carson is a Republican for a Year?

People didn’t Vet Obama , don’t we ever learn?

The reports of Trump's demise have been greatly exaggerated.

Perhaps not Trump, but as such it isn't a good sign for the country.

Our side is just as enthralled with personality / celebrity as the other side over substance. I would have thought our side was more discerning than this, but apparently not. Ultraliberalism ('universal' healthcare, bashing conservatives, promoting false liberal media narratives, liberal judges, Kelo v. Connecticut, TARP, Obama's stimulus, Obama's Syria policy, Planned Parenthood, profanity, etc.) is fine - so long as it is entertaining.

If the Internet was around in the 1930s, we would be hearing about how Winston Churchill "imploded" and how a once dignified statesman allowed himself to descend into racism by saying that the Nazi Party should be banned in England and that we need to the "Nazi threat" needed to be dealt with.

Yes, Churchill was widely denounced during those days when he wanted to keep Naziism from spreading throughout Europe. All the other leaders of the time wanted to appease Hitler and felt that by giving him some living space (sorry Austria, sorry Czechoslovakia) that he would be content and that Europe could live with the Nazis in peace.

Donald Trump is truly the Winston Churchill of our time. He stood virtually alone in speaking about the need to protect our civilization against the Muslim threat and our borders from being overrun by undesirables. He was widely ridiculed for taking this stand, especially by those in his own party. Just like Churchill was.

Eventually, the Europeans realized that Churchill was right and in their most desperate moment, they turned to Winston to get them out of the mess that they created for themselves.

In the same manner, our nation is about to turn to Donald Trump.

History repeats itself once again.

I agree on the ‘boorish’ part. NOW is when Trump needs to step up & act presidential ... he owns the immigration issue and he can lead the country on opposing Omuslim’s efforts to get the Syrian Trojan Horses on our shores. Trump needs to shut the ‘blank’ up on Carson et al, put the petty cr@p aside & lead by example. He can also pulverize the Butcher of Benghazi (Killary) on this one as she wants to step up from 10K to 65K on Syrian “refugees”.

Is it any wonder?

Trump is acting as the president already. The day after the Paris attack he is back on the road facing reality and reassuring people.

He is talking in Beaumont, Texas in about 10 minutes. This will probably be his most important speech to date. Trump is acting as an alpha leader taking on the responsibilities of a superb president.

Here is the live link.

Obama is hiding and avoiding the press who would ask him about the mess he made.
