Trump takes off gloves, rails on Carson

Donald Trump has apparently removed his gloves and gone full frontal assault on his leading competitor for the presidential seat, former neurosurgeon Ben Carson.

On CNN’s “Erin Burnett Out Front,” he referenced Carson’s 1990 memoirs, “Gifted Hands,” and said “it’s in [his] book that he’s got a pathological temper,” he said.

Carson wrote in his autobiography years ago his violent behavior in his youth was due to a “disease” and a “pathological temper” that caused him to hit one friend with a rock, attempt to stab another with a knife. He also wrote he tried to hit his mother with a hammer.

Trump went on, the Hill reported: “That’s a big problem because you don’t cure that. As an example: child molesting. You don’t cure these people. You don’t cure a child molester. There’s no cure for it. Pathological, there’s no cure for that. I’m not bringing up anything that’s not in his book. … When he says he’s pathological – and he says that in the book, I don’t say that – and again, I’m not saying anything. I’m not saying anything other than pathological is a very serious disease.”

Can the Republican Party save itself? Richard Viguerie has the prescription in “Takeover.”

CNN’s host asked him directly if he thought Carson had left his temper in the past.

And Trump’s reply?

“I just don’t know. He’s saying, ‘These things happen and therefore I have credibility.’ And what I’m saying is, I’d rather have them if they didn’t happen. I don’t want somebody who hit somebody in the face with a padlock.”

I've come to know Trump's ways. There may be something in Carson's past that will eventually come to light.

Yeah, maybe this.

Kind of a Canish problem, maybe? I have no idea if this is true.

There’s a lot in his past already that I see.IMHO, This run is simply a money raising campaign. And when it’s over, he gives the excess monies to the party (which he just joined last year) OR his favorite charity who is run by his best friend...his very best friend....a convicted felon.

I watched Trummp’s speech last night and also came to that conclusion. Trump seems angry at Carson, unlike earlier in the year when he spoke as if they were friends.

Almost like he had been lied to or deceived, like there is something else out there. I have not seen him attack any of the other candidates quite that way.

Interesting. And if you read the thread, the simple answer from Carson would have been to state that it was not possible to father a child because he had been faithful to his wife. Nowhere did Carson make that claim (at least from the thread provided by dforest). I do believe before this is all over, Carson is going to be shown to be a fraud of epic proportions.

How reliable is Political Hotwire? There's nothing quoted there in which Dr. Carson refutes the possibility that the child is his, just that he doesn't trust the DNA testing (pretty strange attitude for a doctor). His "he doesn't trust gov testing" doesn't sound any more true than a lot of stuff he says, since he could get second tests if he doubted the results.

I don't know who Dr. Carson really is any more than I know who Obama really is.

Pretty sure that calling people you need to vote for you “Stupid” is not going to work out too well for Mr Trump.

This is why I don’t think Trump is qualified to be president. Instead of going after his opponent’s policies, Trump always makes it personal, trying to find some way to belittle and demean them. If Trump wants to attack Carson about his tax proposal, his immigration plan, his plans for the military - fine, those are all fair game. (Though I think he should focus on what his opponents current proposals are, not what they said years ago - unless he wants everyone constantly reminding the voters of HIS past positions.) But for Trump to refer to something that happened in Carson’s youth, and to try to compare that to being a child molester is despicable.

Now Trump supporters will try to say that Trump didn’t call Carson a child molester. But what Trump is doing is getting that idea associated with Carson. Many LIV won’t pay attention to the whole story, but will hear Carson and “child molester” together and make an unconscious association between the two. And don’t think that Trump isn’t counting on that...

Trump is just trying to toughen Carson up for what he’s in for if he wins the nomination. The RATs will make Trump’s attack seem like friendly banter.

You really need to read what Carson said about that incident before you make a fool out of yourself. This is from Carson's editorial in the Washington Times:

"What she didn't know is that I did not have to scratch my head and try to remember which affair she represented, because I knew that the only woman I have ever slept with in my life was my wife. Even if that had not been the case, I think confession and dealing with the consequences would have been the best course of action."

Supposedly this allegation is also a problem for Rubio.

Could be why GOPe is looking for Romney to step into the race.

Okay, Dr. Carson, here's your chance. You are about to become the sole focus of the media's attention.

Use this opportunity to get your message about. Particularly your message about Medical Savings Accounts and Health Savings Accounts.

Don't waste even a precious second responding directly to whatever Trump says. Unless it's as a parting shot. Hillary's turd polishers in the media are only interested in perpetuating a war between you and Trump. You need to take these occasions to get all the free campaign air time you can.

He said in something I just read that he doesn’t want to provide his DNA for testing because he’s afraid the government might cause his blood to turn up at some murder scene or something.

Maybe I would be that paranoid, too, but that seems awfully paranoid. And people think he would make a good head of our government?

Anyone got links to Carson’s FULL statement(s) about this stuff and also a video of Trump’s attack on Carson?

Frankly, I see this tactic as Trump’s MO. Say things in such a way that you have plausible deniability when folks call you out on your statements.

Megyn Kelly’s blood comment - he knew exactly the reaction it would garner, and he used it to bash the media. Intentional.

Carson’s 7th day adventism - comparing to his own mainstream presbyterianism and saying ‘I don’t know about that’. Intentional.

This pathological comparison. Intentional.

Perhaps that’s why he appeared so angry last night ... all these great (he thought) attacks on Carson, and yet Carson is still there nipping at his heels.

I make no predictions about Trumps trajectory from here (I’m amazed we’re still talking about him in November).
