Krauthammer’s Take: Trump, Carson, Cruz, Rubio Will Be GOP’s ‘Final Four’
National Review ^ | 11/11/2015 | NR Staff

Sen. Rand Paul had his best night in Tuesday's Republican primary debate, but it won't be enough to alter his fortunes, Charles Krauthammer said tonight on Fox News's Special Report.

"I give him points for courage and candor," Krauthammer said. "I mean his sort of isolationism is not a popular strain, but he went with it."

Nonetheless, "I don't think anybody really changes his or her fortunes."Instead, he predicted how things will shake out from here: "If you look at the stage, you saw the two wings, you had Rand Paul and you had Kasich, who you could just see falling through a trap door. And then you have Carly Fiorina and Jeb, who I think are also rather tentative."

"And then you look in the center and you saw the final four," he continued. Meaning, Donald Trump, Ben Carson, Ted Cruz, and Marco Rubio.

Conservative Carson supporters really need to wake up to his pro-amnesty, GOPe positions. Otherwise, you’ve got Trump, Cruz and Carson splitting the conservative vote and Rubio cruising to victory.

Only two have a chance against Hitlery. Trump and Cruz. Rubio and Carson suffer from what Reagan is credited with saying about offering a choice between a Democrat and a democrat. They will vote for the Rat.

I think Carson’s numbers will continue to trend down from here, as will Rubio’s.

Krauthammer is working for Rupert Murdock and his two sons, FNN is the liberal mouth piece for the GOPe, talking heads and media...they don’t like Trump and he could care less about them....

I have never liked Krauthammer’s opinion on anything for a long time, and anything he writes is a hit piece on who ever he doesn’t like at that moment....

Sort of a Captain Obvious observation, given the polls, but I agree it will be one of those 4.

Those four for sure. Let the rest vie for Cabinet positions.

Ben Carson will never be president of the U.S. And that has nothing to do with his politics, either.

PRESIDENT TRUMP

Cruz for Attorney General, then the Supreme Court. Christie for DOJ.
Carson Surgeon General.
Rubio, manager of a Cuban restaurant in Bradenton.

There are many very experienced Republican politicians who are nowhere near the debate stage today. This final four are all viewed as rank amateurs by the "insiders."

I'm doubtful that this really means a wave of dissatisfaction has built up among the public and insiders are being shunned. I fear it actually means the Presidency has become nothing more than a figurehead role, and none of DC's true power players want to bother with it.

All due respect, but I think Carson is going to remain strong. Not because he’s a good candidate. He’s a strong man of conviction, but I agree he’s not exactly conservative. That said, however, he’ll stay strong because of his race.

For some reason, Americans have this “white guilt” going on that saw us elect Obeyme not once but TWICE. I’ve seen it in my own grandfather who said that I didn’t understand because “[I] didn’t live through the civil rights era.” Okay, fair enough pop pop, but King said we should judge on the content of character, not on race. Obama’s an evil man, through and through, race be damned. Carson is a great man who’s overcome adversity throughout his life, but that doesn’t make him a good candidate for the presidency.

White America needs to stop feeling guilty for blacks. The rest of the world looks at us like we’re a bunch of backwoods yokels because we treat blacks “different.” This is the only first-world nation on the planet that gives blacks special dispensation. It’s time they stand on their own and prove to us that they’re in this with us, not despite us!

Trump and Cruz are both polling very poorly against Hillary. Carson is beating her easily and Rubio is ahead as well.

I would be willing to say screw the polls for Cruz, to see a real Conservative win the nomination. Plus, he is so smart and passionate that I could see him winning over the voters who don’t know him that well yet.

Trump is by far the least electable and is also really a Democrat pretending to be a Republican. Check his record.

I just liked seeing a headline on this 2016 POTUS race without Bush, Paul, Kasich, Fiorina, Christie, Santuckabee, Graham ... mucking it up.

Krauthammer the Clown also declared Trump’s candidacy dead after the first debate. Not taking his opinion seriously at all anymore.

Trump and Cruz are both polling very poorly against Hillary.

Ronald Reagan was also polling very poorly against GHWB and Jimmah Carter. Don't let the media pick your candidate by default.

This from a guy who ignored Cruz the Candidate for as long as he thought he could without looking like a complete idiot. Unfortunately he waited a bit longer than that. Dr. K has been totally lost this election season. A Bushie for sure. Expect a big push for Rubio Our Savior from K and the Fox Team going forward.

I am for Cruz, despite the polls.

If Trump is the nominee, Conservatives are screwed either way. There is about a 90% he would lose to Hillary, but even if Trump wins we will have a Liberal liar as POTUS.

I agree. Of the four - Trump, Carson, Rubio, and Cruz - Ted Cruz currently has the least name recognition among the general public. That will change once he gets the nomination. I don't see any way Hillary would ever get the best of him in a debate, so she'll rely heavily on the mainstream media's smear machine to dig up stories about how Cruz once talked back to the teacher in the 7th grade, or taped a baseball game without the express written consent of the Commissioner of Baseball.
