The Meaninglessness Of Ben Carson’s Views On Egyptian Pyramids [the money quote]
Red State ^ | October 5, 2015 | streiff

".... I certainly don't agree with Carson on this but neither do I think it is terribly material to anything. If you are trying to make a case that Carson is an idiot or against science, I think it takes more than a religious conviction to discredit an internationally prominent neurosurgeon with a string of articles published in scholarly medical journals. On the other hand, Hillary Clinton believes in man-induced global warming. Many of the same people criticizing Carson actually believe that gender has nothing to do with chromosomes or endocrinology or physiology. When it comes to GMOs, especially seeds that minimize the need for herbicides and insecticides, the entire left make the Luddites look positively progressive. If you scratch a leftist you find someone screaming "vaccines cause autism." And let’s not even get started on the bizarre belief that heterosexual marriage and the pathetic fraud that is homosexual marriage are even comparable much less equal....."

I don’t know why the pyramids were built, but I think there is a building consensus that they definitely were not tombs. Still a big mystery.

The man is a narcoleptic member of a religious cult and would be eaten alive by our enemies. He is not a leader. As a Pacifist he has no business in the role of Commander in Chief.

I think it takes more than a religious conviction...

I fail to see what this has to do with religious conviction. Carson is advancing a nutball idea that has nothing to do with who or how one worships.

“The origin and use of the pyramids is by no means a settled matter.”

Are you joking? Can you refer to any scholarly materials that put the origin and/or the use of the pyramids into serious doubt?

Actually the graineries are UNDER the pyramids.
They belonged to the Pharaoh.
Pharaoh Tutenheadake called them “My Graineries”.

The need for grain storage is at least as old as agriculture. The pyramid is an ancient architectural form, predating the Great Pyramids of Egypt — it seems entirely possible that it had utilitarian uses, long before it was used for tombs and monuments.

This is just more of the attacks seen on Alan Keyes, where the Left must ridicule a conservative black man who may become President.

As far as the Pyramids of Giza go, as soon as their true historical function somehow affects how somebody will act as President, I’ll give a damn what a candidate thinks about them. Otherwise, they’re giant piles of rocks in an Egyptian desert.

“My coworker also sees Carson’s view on use of pyramids as meaningless... I however disagree.”

I have to agree. Carson had a chance recently to address this and put it to bed, but he stood firm on his earlier statement and dug his heels in. Not good IMHO.

And to anybody else who wants to browbeat others because of what they believe about the aforementioned piles of rocks:

Hate to pile on. Here is a new flash. There is this stuff called writing inside the pyramids and believe it or not it tells us what the thing is used for. And guess what!!!!! It is a tomb. If you look at the interior of the pyramids it is about the most inefficient way to store anything. I have studied this subject for about 50 years. As a young man I studied how to read the glyphs. I truly hope you are joking about wanting “alternatives” to something no one in his right mind questions.
I don’t have to put my faith in “those who have all the answers.”
I didn’t build the Washington monument but I have a vague idea what is is for.

Is Carson referring to the pyramids? Or the general idea of using pyramid shaped facilities for bulk storage.

Which Egyptian pyramids? The ones at Giza? The famous ones?

Joseph had facilities built to store grain. Perhaps they were pyramids. Perhaps not. It's not a crazy notion:

Actually Pharaoh Tutenheadake`s son, Prince Tutencoma, invented the GRAIN ELEVATOR for bringing the grain up under the great Pyramid, where it would be easily crushed to flour by its massive weight. The pyramids are actually gigantic flour mills.

“How about we have a transgender bathroom?” Carson said.

"How 'bout they go pee in the bushes?", JimRed said.

Sorry, but his views on the pyramids did not affect work he has done thus far, FAR beyond the capabilities of ANY of the low IQ clowns currently in office.

Methinks he can figure out how to outdo Dorkbama the Muslim.

It might be easier to take your posts seriously were you not so emotionally strident. As it stands, your vehemence makes Dr. Carson seem pretty level headed.

He is, of course, correct. The first STEP pyramid was built by Joseph over a grain silo.
Over a period of 2000 years until Moses the rest of the pyramids were built. Carson never claimed they were built for grain storage, only the first one.
