WASHINGTON–Sen. Ted Cruz claimed the Obama Administration has prevented American terror victims from receiving compensation for their losses and called the Iranian nuclear deal “the worst betrayal.”
Cruz, a Republican presidential candidate and one the deal’s most active critics, called the money it would release to Iran through sanctions relief “a national disgrace” during a Senate hearing on compensation for American victims of Iranian and Palestinian terror.
“We want you know that we haven’t forgotten these crimes, and we will never forget,” said Cruz, chairman of the Senate Judiciary subcommittee holding the hearing. “Even today the killing still rages.”

A New York federal district court in February found the Palestinian Authority and Palestine Liberation Organization liable in six terror attacks between 2002 and 2004 in Israel that resulted in American casualties. The court awarded the victims $655.5 million, but the Justice Department in August argued the bond would impose devastating costs on the PA, the region’s government.
That, the department claimed, could “lead to a crisis that would not only impact the security of Israelis and Palestinians, but would potentially have ripple effects elsewhere in the region”
