Did Wednesday night's debate make a difference in the Republican presidential race?
Rasmussen Reports' latest national telephone survey finds that 31% of Likely Republican Voters think Donald Trump will be the Republican nominee in 2016. Dr. Ben Carson is a distant second at 20%.
Eight percent (8%) of GOP voters see either Senator Marco Rubio or Senator Ted Cruz as the eventual nominee. Seven percent (7%) feel that way about former Florida Governor Jeb Bush, while four percent (4%) think ex-Hewlett-Packard CEO Carly Fiorina will get the partyâs nod.
Seven percent (7%) of Republicans think the nominee will be one of the eight other major candidates in the race. Fourteen percent (14%) are undecided. (To see survey question wording, click here.)
Because this survey ran over two nights, only one of which followed the debate, Rasmussen Reports asked voters which of the candidates will get the nomination rather than which one won the third intraparty debate.

The survey of 1,000 Likely U.S. Voters was conducted on October 28-29, 2015 by Rasmussen Reports. The margin of sampling error is +/- 3 percentage points with a 95% level of confidence. Field work for all Rasmussen Reports surveys is conducted by Pulse Opinion Research, LLC. See methodology.

Trump looks like the presidential winner among likely voters.
Over 30%. That’s amazing! How can that be possible? Need to ask the FRestablishment.
FOX will instantly announce that their poll shows that Carson is way ahead.
(31% and 7% are the new "close".)
People put too much stock in debates. This does not surprise me at all.
This is the second or third poll I’ve seen this season where they ask people not “who are you voting for” but “who do you think will win?”
I find it bizarre that a poll would focus on the question of inevitability and not actual ask what the persons own preference would be.
I continue to question Trump’s sincerity or authenticity but then he says something like “I really think Obama HATES Israel”.. Gotta love him! He continues to drop ‘truth bombs’ no other candidate will say.

Asking people who they think the nominee will be, is not the same as who they intend to vote for.
I could be resigned to Mrs. Bill Clinton winning the Democrat nomination. It wouldn't mean I was going for her.
Is this poll inaccurate, due to the framing of the question? Possibly.
The big problem the GOP-E has is that the combined totals of Trump, Carson, and Cruz are nearing or exceeding 60%. There isn’t a really a conventional path to victory for them.
Yes, exactly. Of what value is “who do you think will win”?
Asking who will win is not the same thing as who you plan on voting for.
I believe it's likely close to their preference to who they want to win within a few points of those polled.
Mannatech Ben, Pro-Amnesty FReepers hit hardest.
There are probably more ways to “rig” a poll, than there are ways for a bartender to steal from the owner : )
No, this poll is inaccurate because it didn't say what I wanted it to say.
/roughly 75% of FReepers
so is our collective wisdom here that the few polls showing Trump/Carson dead heat are baloney?
Would be true even for IOwa?
Or do we still think Trump is on top in Iowa?
This is another poll of who people THINK will win.
Not for whom they will VOTE.
Opinions about others’ behavior is less valid.
This is a misleading poll.
any idea what the previous Ras poll was?
Like this one by IBD. A poll that rights itself from its last dubious poll.
