Full Title: Rare as hen's teeth: Concealed carry permit holder thwarts an armed robbery in Chicago, kills assailant
The normal weekend carnage in the president’s hometown of Chicago sports a most unusual incident. Despite all its stringent gun laws, a fully-permitted concealed carry armed citizen managed to prevent an armed robbery at a deli/check cashing store in a poor Hispanic neighborhood.
Jeremy Gorner, Gregory Pratt, and Megan Crepeau (a story so unusual and significant that 3 reporters were assigned) report in the Chicago Tribune:
A robbery was thwarted at a Southwest Side corner store Saturday night when a patron with a concealed carry license shot and killed an armed robber, authorities said.
Citing preliminary information, police said a man walked into a store in the 2700 block of West 51st Street in the Gage Park neighborhood around 7 p.m., announced a robbery to an employee working behind the counter and displayed a handgun.

It would make sense for Mayor Rahm to call a news conference to encourage other citizens to get their concealed carry permit.
But, that won't happen of course; doesn't fit the lefts anti-gun agenda.
The shooter will at least have to fight off a civil suit, if not some criminal charges by the city to discourage this kind of activity.
I wonder how hard it is to get a legal gun in Chi-town.

My sympathies to the CC person. No matter what happens his life is irretrievably changed. He will face not only criticism and blame from those opposed to guns, but will probably be sued and have large legal fees. I only hope that he is able to live with the trauma of taking another person’s life.
As a CCP holder in Illinois, I have often thought what pulling my gun could mean for me. I pray that if I am ever faced with a situation where I choose to draw and fire, that I have made the correct decision.
He ill have to turn in his gun and CW Monday. The permit is a one time only use. He used his. Turn it in. Another gun off the streets of Chicago. I feel safer already.
So the police know who he is. It had to be, of course, otherwise he'd be another Bernie Goetz and there'd be a manhunt for the "unknown assailant."
Hope he didn't say too much, and can find a good lawyer.

Using the gun in self defense doesnt mean its over. It means its just begun, and therein lies the problem with defending yourself. Lawyers, da’s, judges, all dont give an actual shit about real justice.
If stuff came out ablut them in open court they be ragged out of that building, tarred and feathered, and hung like Mussolini.
I like a question I saw somewhere recently. It was a wide angle photo of a large gun show at an armory or someplace, with the caption:
“If guns kill people, how does anyone ever make it out of a gun show alive?”

Well, for openers you’ve already given serious thought to your intended actions should the need arise, which is more than most cops do before they empty a mag into someone.
