Agreed. Something that will never happen if Hillary or Bush are President. We need to reset everyone’s expectations - Uncle Sugar can’t pay you to sit on your buttocks anymore. If you can work (i.e. not too old, not too sick, not handicapped), you should work. Period.

LOL obviously democrats don’t want wages to rise, rich liberal phonies want to import cheap illegal workers so that all the minimum wage laws in the world are meaningless.

Bourdain had a reasonably successful French-style brasserie in Lower Manhattan called Les Halles. It’s still around, or was in the last year or two when I walked by the location. He’s not involved with it any more.

What really made him was a book called Kitchen Confidential, which was a well-written story of what it’s really like behind the scenes at nice restaurants. There are also a couple of follow-on books. He parlayed that into the TV shows and such.

We would still have plenty of people to fill every job available in this country.

All the groups that used to staff those jobs have been forced out by the illegals willingness to work absurdly long hours for low wages. Practically every blue collar job in America has been affected by these locusts.

Because our vast army of unemployed black and white citizens are too lazy and incompetent to bus tables and wash dishes, right Anthony?

Unemployment is insurance that was supposed to run out so you will find another job and go back to paying into it.

Last time I checked they kept extending it forever.

As they say, it’s good work if you can get it.

I’ll gladly pay 30-50% more if the people serving me can actually speak English, have their vaccinations, can take off when they’re sick and pay the same taxes I do.

It’s become a ridiculous cycle. Most restaurants wont even hire you for the kitchen if you can’t speak Spanish!

ENOUGH of this sh**! Let’s take the country back!

Celebrity chef Anthony Bourdain says America's restaurant industry would shut down if Donald Trump won the 2016 presidential election.

Well if they won't automate mundane work, then they should shut down. Who wants third world diseases from a restaurant because of cheap subsidized labor.

I know from close friends that it most definitely runs out sooner rather than later. You have to re apply and demonstrate that you are looking for work. How long it should last is a matter for discussion but at least it’s tied to work.

No. Every restaurant in would hire legal residents or citizens and there would be a boom in hiring.Absurd!

This is old hat for Anthony Bourdain. For years he has been claiming Hispanics are the backbones of NYC restaurant kitchens. No way is this true in all of America. Just some urban areas. Las Vegas hums due to Hispanic labor behind the scenes. This is why so many Hispanics live in Las Vegas.....

BUT if deportation of illegal aliens means thousands of restaurants close down then so be it. People will find other ways to eat. Plus restaurants will just have to pay more for legal workers. Meal prices will rise but this will all sort itself out. Americans are not obligated to accept a flood of third world illegal aliens in order to allow restaurant entrepreneurs to make money.

Of course other small businesses will be impacted and might close when their supply of slave labor gets cut off

That’s odd.

I recall lots of restaurants in America prior to 1970, when the Mexican population of the U.S. was < 2 million or so.

Somehow the other 198 million of us back then got along without the citizens of Mexico swarming us.
