GOPe has apparently decided that they can’t save Bush, but at least Carson can be puppetized.

I rushed over to this site when I heard Carson was leading Trump nationally, knowing that anyone supporting Trump will disown the poll. I was right!

I also know that if a poll has Trump in the lead, you same people embrace, push and brag about how good Trump is doing. It is all amusing to me.

Human nature does not change.

You do know the poll is not from National Review....they don't do polls. The poll is from the NYT/CBS. However, I doubt you actually read about the poll. Trump's supporters are about 50% solid supporters - their minds are made up for certain. Carson's supporters are solidly committed to him at only 19%. I think that is an important metric that should be followed closely and in some manner is more important than the actual top line number.

Also, not surprisingly, this poll echoes what other polls have shown. Most of Trump's support come from moderates and not conservatives, while Carson's support is mainly from conservatives. For Trump supporters that should be a concern. Trump also leads among the least educated among us....not surprising either since his talking style is downscale. No need to explain why, when you can say, "I will make it happen." That is not much different than saying, "Hope and change."

Having written that, I am vacillating between Trump and Cruz with Carson an outside possibility. Trump will be a disaster as a president in many ways, but I have become a one issue voter for the first time. If Trump can build a thick solid wall, then to me, nothing else matters and he will be a success. But I am concerned he will do the same thing Carson is publicly suggesting. Send them home and we will let them back in anyway. Our legal immigration is about 1 million a year, which is huge. I think Trump or the others will just have Congress increase the number much higher and you end up with the same result.

I don’t know if Carson is really pulling ahead or not, however I don’t think Trump should have attacked him. It was unprovoked and is costing him.

So, those who used to support any pro-amnesty GOP also-rans (all 15 of them) switched to Ben Carson, who now backs amnesty for illegals. Not much of a mystery there.

And pro-amnesty punditry crowd crowing about his poll number uptick, and that’s the national news. Got it.

Next we’ll see if those all-important donors coalesce behind a single Ben Carson.

Comparison of four recent polls:

Gee, I wonder which one of them is the outlier? Couldn't be from SeeBS or anything.

I understand your concern. However, let me point one thing out to you. Trump’s brand and reputation are on the line and he doesn’t do anything to tarnish those. He puts a lot of stock in that. So, for that reason, I believe he will do what he says - at least as far as building the wall and deporting illegals. He made a promise to those families who have lost loved ones to illegals. I think he has more character than to let them down. One thing is for sure - we can’t allow this invasion of our country to continue, or else it won’t matter who is president. Our country will be gone and is nearing that status right now. I also like his tax plan and his love for the military and vets. So, I’m ore than a one-issue voter. Trump talks the talk of most Americans - I’ve heard him talk more intelligently when he has to. He is reaching Americans - not elitists. We’ve had enough of that crap and PC too. The majority of the candidates talk at us - not to us. They speechify.

National Review has gone metrosexual, putting assertive social-issue conservatives under the microscope while ignoring the inability of economic conservatives to counter the left’s communist-based fairness issues.

No other candidate comes close to Mr. Carson and Mr. Trump. Senator Marco Rubio of Florida received 8 percent while former Gov. Jeb Bush of Florida and Carly Fiorina, the former Hewlett-Packard chief executive, are each the choice of 7 percent of Republican primary voters.

Ted Cruz is being beaten by karly fioRINO and jebbie???

NFW, this push poll is total bullshit.

The post that cites a poll showing Trump up by 14 points is from an un-scientific poll. Trump supporters keep touting this poll (the OAN poll) and the Reuters poll. Both these polls are conducted using un-scientific polling methodologies. Polling is a science. It has been studied for over a century. Scientific methodologies have been developed and they continue to be improved. These two polls do not use scientific methods.

The OAN poll uses robo-calling. Robo-calling is prohibited by law from calling cell phones. Without cell phone data in a poll’s sample it cannot represent the population. Robo-call polls also have an extremely low response rate. Sometimes as low as <1%. With that low of response rate the accuracy of the sample is questionable.

The Reuter poll takes a random sample from a number of on-line polls. Therefore its population is actually the people who took the on-line polls not the population of the country. It can only estimate the views of the people who took the on-line polls not the population of the country.

The CBS/NY Times poll is a true random sample poll, using scientific methods. It is not a push poll. I don’t think the person claiming that it is a push poll even knows what a push poll is. The CBS/NY Times poll is an honest poll.

I still haven’t seen any articles about Carson that ARENT about his poll numbers. It’s like they are appearing out of nowhere.

What’s needed for a poll bounce? Coverage. To get poll bounces people need to agree with your message but first they need to hear it. Carsons message simply isn’t getting the airtime that this poll bounce indicates.

I feel like every time I hear his poll numbers went up, the reason given is “they went up because they went up!”

Sure some people will investigate on their own but each one of those percentage points represents thousands and thousands of people. It’s simply unrealistic to believe those people all investigated on their own. Where are the positive news articles, the big speeches, the well covered interviews? You know, the things that normally lead to poll bounces.
