MEXICO, N.Y. Mexico High School quarterback Dante Turo believes its God who gives him the strength and abilities to be successful on the football field.
The junior team leader often points skyward after big plays as a tribute to the Almighty, and his 73-yard run for a touchdown against Vernon-Verona-Sherrill Oct. 17 was no exception, Syracuse.com reports.
The solemn celebration, however, apparently didnt sit well with one referee, who flagged the teen for unsportsmanlike conduct and assessed a 15-yard penalty that ultimately cost his team the game.
I was just trying to give glory to God, Turo told the news site. I didnt feel like I did anything wrong or anything that would merit unsportsmanlike conduct.
Turo appeared on Fox News Fox & Friends with his father, Geno Turo, last Thursday to discuss the incident.
Pointing up to God is kind of the international symbol of giving praise to Jesus, and thats all I was trying to do, Turo said.
He wanted to do something at that moment to take credit away from himself and give glory to God, Geno added. God gives us the ability and the talent. As Christians, we want to be sure to give that back immediately.
Mexico coach Tee Murabito told Fox News he thinks the ref made the wrong call. In the end, Mexico lost 33-31 in the regular season finale.
I tried to explain to the referee that threw the flag and the head referee, but they just said, its taunting, Murabito said, according to The Washington Times. I told them he was praising God. How is that taunting?

I mentioned on another thread that my family went to see the movie: Woodlawn, which was similar to the movie Remember The Titans, but with a faith component. All the players and coaches seemed to be pointing upward, giving God the credit during games. Sadly, how times have changed. Woodlawn is excellent movie BTW
Also a Muslim sign.
It's taunting to satanists by reminding them who wins in the end.
From the article:
-—Turo told the media he doesnt plan to change is in-game celebrations, and fully plans to praise God again the next time he crosses the goal line.
Without a doubt, I will raise my finger, he said.-—
Good for him. As has been correctly stated: ‘Resistance to tyranny is obedience to God’.
I have seen ISIS using it, tho as I recall did not see them looking up, just the #1.
It would seem to be in character for them to take the symbol away from Christians.
This player is a Christian, and as I said, in the true story movie Woodlawn, the team is Christian.
You’re not there to “give glory to God”, you are there to help your team win.
Getting a 15 yard penalty does not help them win.
I am not sure I even disagree with tossing a flag on that, I would be MOST uncomfortable if they bowed down to mecca after a winning TD. Saw one player in the NFL do that a few months back- not sure what happened after that.
And some of them are public saints and private sinners. I had a next door neighbor who prayed the loudest in church every week- I think she poisoned our dog.
I told them he was praising God. How is that taunting?

The Liberal Method of aggression is to attack by declaring self-defense. So the ref needed to declare the kid an aggressor. So he choose a PC accusation that he wouldn't have to explain.
The ref should be fired. The school should refuse to play any more games until he is fired, and sue the organization that provides refereeing.
They won't, of course.
You want to explain how pointing to the sky violates ANY football rules?
It should have been you....
Christians are pointing to God. Muslims are refering to the verse in the Quran that says there is but one god.
Also - I am number one.
Shoulda pulled out a prayer rug and pointed his ass to the sky.
I also notice the reporter is careful not to identify in any way the referee - gender, age, race, profession, sexual orientation, etc..
That usually means they’re also hiding or protecting someone or something else.
Next time have the whole team point to the sky.
EVERY TOUCHDOWN!
In this country, we are supposed to enjoy freedom of religion. However, at this time in our history, it seems that certain religions get a green light, others (Christianity) are being challenged at every turn.
With all due respect, seems you have some issues with faith. I have no idea as to the spiritual condition of your neighbor, but I would remind you that sinners are not perfect, just forgiven.
I don’t think you can implicate all Christians who practice a public demonstration of faith with private evil such as your neighbor possibly poisoning your dog...
We will have to agree to disagree.
We really are being hamstrung by cultural marxists. There is an ever growing list of verboten words. Now we have an ever growing list of verboten gestures. Don’t jump up and down, don’t slam the ball in the end-zone, don’t point up, don’t point your finger at anyone, don’t get down on one knee, don’t bow your head, don’t clasp your hands together. More and more the attempt to to strip out any spark, any hint of an individual, to snuff out the very soul.
Next time have the whole team point to the sky.
EVERY TOUCHDOWN!
Another example of complete naivete from a non-liberal.
Trying to rationalize with these bastards will never work. Immediately attack and don't stop attacking until the liberal is destroyed.
Sir we are placed on earth to give glory to God, always. Winning games is such nonsense when it comes to what is important to our spiritual lives.
