Californa currently has a 7 to 8 billion dollar budget surplus and the unemployment rate in my city of San Diego (Republican Mayor) is currently 4.7%.
San Diego has the lowest homicide rate of the ten largest cities in America (2.4 murders per 100,000 inhabitants/32 people murdered in 2014). San Jose is second/also 32 persons murdered.
Philadelphia has 16 murders per 100,000/248 persons murdered.

They have less than 2 years worth of drinking water left in the state. And they want to remove dams and drain reservoirs to reduce that even further.

See a problem with this?

Take a look at the welfare and other expenditures generated by CA compared to others in the Union...

What happens if that goes away?

Excellent, this is the type of dialog needed here so we can all expand our awareness and work together to end this madness

Something else that happens if CA leaves/is ejected: No more Democrat presidents for a while. CA is the biggest reservoir for Dem electoral votes.

And, of course, any possibility of Democrat control of the House.

What were the disadvantages to letting CA fail and leave the union, again? I’m having trouble thinking of any...

Most folks are unaware that California was the most republican/conservative state in Our Union for over 100 years. The ability of disinformation campaigns is staggering, to say the least. Most of the bullshit in this state, comes from every other state in Our Union. And what doesn’t wash up here, still has biased opinions, of no end or good use. California is an emotional billboard for US political non-gravitas.

Absolutely correct. People wish ill to California as if it was always democrat liberal. Not so, and even now it's just the coastal cities. San Francisco was run by republicans for most of the 20th century (a long unbroken string of republican mayors until the mid-1960s). Until invaded by hordes of invaders from the northeast (similar to muslims invading Europe now). I still believe that someday we can take back California from the libs, but it will take a while. It will happen when the invaders leave California and go elsewhere (already happening to other states but don't blame us as they weren't born in California!).

Doorgunner69 is just the kind of individual I was speaking of in my post. If he had a scintilla of intellect

KMA, swabbie. I could not care less what a northern Californian thinks.

Your rage is amusing, I suspect you are a Moonbeam voter and now are regretting it.

Oh yeah, I was born in California, just left it in disgust with the way you and YOUR ilk were letting things go.

Keep on defending the mess you have created, just do not bother doing it with me, swabbie.

the state of Washington is the same...

these people have elected a rat govt for over 35 yrs...and the state houses are almost always rat, or close to it...

the ramifications of having this are many but a big one to me is that all the commissions are rat run, all the boards of regents for state colleges are rat run...etc etc...

we have a Fish and Wildlife Dept that just recommended that there be a liberalized hunt on cougars...these are state biologists who don't do a thing without careful, lengthy study...our stinking rat govt just vetoed it.....

outrageous beautiful and blessed landscape in California...the redwoods...the Pacific ocean...the wonderful farm lands...mountains...desert...lakes...rivers....such diversity, and that was when “diversity” wasn’t a dirty word.

Amen.

These a-holes who act like all this liberal bullshit started
in California can pound sand, especially the particularly
ignorant ones who post asinine blanket statements about
All Californians. A pox on all of them,

Thanks for the suggestion, but my parents sailed here from Osaka. I’d rather not float back.

Can CA be saved?

Absolutely not.

I was born in CA and lived here all my 44 years. I grew up in a conservative LA suburb in eastern LA County (Walnut). Walnut was still primarily Republican and the late 1990’s. It is now a major Democrat bastion, along with many other major conservative strong holds in Eastern LA County, San Bernardino, Riverside and San Diego Counties. Even once heavily conservative Orange County is half Democrat now.

So no, CA can not be saved when 55% of the sate is registered Democrat and half of the Independents are liberal thinkers.

Even most of my old friends an collegues that were conservative 15-20 years ago are now flaming liberals.

This state is a prime example of how destructive liberalism is. Ronald Reagan, George Deukmejian and Pete Wilson would be defeated in huge landslides in today’s California.
