Me too. Science background. Layed off at 51 yo from medical device company after 22 years. Nobody hardly wants to talk to me. So, I work temp.

C, C++, SQL, and bash script, with occasional forays into SQL and Perl.
I agree.
I also suddenly ran into an issue at work. Thought I had transferred to a good situation.
Now our boss is talking about outsourcing, and things are very tense.
America needs to bring back jobs. Now. Outsourcing is just ruining America.
There’s a lot of work for software engineers with experience in java, node.js, and javascript.
There is also a lot of work for software engineers with experience in firmware development and architecture.
Some do that, but it takes at least a couple of extra years because of the specialized coursework in the RN curriculum. Same is true for pharmacy.
