CBS Tees Up Andy Parker to Slam NRA ‘Cowards’ That Are ‘Blocking’ ‘Sensible Gun Legislation’

Promising to air “all sides” in their ongoing series “Voices Against Violence,” Monday’s CBS Evening News featured its second installment with gun control activist Andy Parker, who used the occasion to blast the “cowards” at the National Rifle Association (NRA) for “blocking...sensible gun legislation.”

Anchor Scott Pelley first explained that the debate over “gun violence is the subject of our new series ‘Voices Against Violence.’” Adding that the network plans will be “hearing from all sides of the issue,” Pelley introduced Parker: “Tonight, the father of Alison Parker, a reporter for WDBJ, our CBS station in Roanoke, Virginia, who was murdered alongside photographer Adam Ward.”

Parker started off by reminding viewers of how he came to prominence following the horrifying murder of his daughter before transitioning to his argument that “we are at war” and facing cases of “domestic terrorism” as a country. In turn, he has decided to “take action” by lobbying for gun control.

See BS at it again. All sides huh? Including the MILLIONS of law abiding gun owners who's guns sit in the safe all day doing nothing? Will they include the fact that the U.S. is #1 in guns per capita but #111 in intentional homicides? Or that since 1993 the firearm death numbers have dropped from 7/100k to around 3.6/100k? Despite the huge increase in firearm ownereship? Probably forget to mention that the bad guys don't give two, no, let's make that three, craps about their "gun safety" laws? So, andy, my sympathy for the loss of your daughter, but is doesn't give you the right to force your anger on to me.

“Sensible” would be repealing the Second Amendment. It surely wouldn’t be difficult.

Because putting defenseless citizens at the mercy of armed criminals is so “sensible.”

Parker was the one who had a FB page set up to “raise money for “Alison” within 24 hours. He also gave a press conference of sorts within 24 hours at which he smiling until just before he thought the cameras were being turned on. He can then be seen hyperventilating in order to generate emotion. He has found his cash cow.

A problem that they fail to address: repealing the 2nd does not remove my right to self defense, even against government gone awry. All it does is remove the proscription placed upon the government from infringing on that right. What it will also do is firmly cement in the hearts and minds of millions of people that this government no longer has the consent of the governed.

What then?

I do not care one iota how loud, how shrill, and how long the Left screams, I will never concede to them. Never!

Their end goal, as we all know, is confiscation. And after confiscation come subjugation. NEVER!

Scream all you want. Call me whatever you want. NEVER!

‘Sensible’?? There is that Democrat manipulation with weasel words again. The LIVs hear that and think ‘if I don't agree with them, I am obviously not sensible’. The Education system, overwhelmingly populated with hard core Leftists, has made sure that our general populace is remaining more and more ignorant. People educated with critical thinking skills can see through the rhetoric from miles away. Unfortunately, our children are being taught what to think, not how to break down the rhetoric and find the truth.

“Sensible gun legislation” ought to include a formal course at high school level, of the care, use, feeding and grooming of personal firearms, and other self-defense strategies. Just as there is driver training in high schools, weapons training should be a requirement for further maturation of the young.

Such a course would emphasize the nature and purpose of the Second Amendment, even over the objections of those parents who are hysterically and morbidly in fear of the possession of means of self-defense. One of the requirements for the purchase of a weapon should be successful completion of just such a comprehensive course, and the issuance of a carry permit, either open or concealed.

I thought it was twenty thousand. And yes, exactly one of them is sensible. The rest are all arrant nonsense, and unconstitutional.

Here, in one compound sentence, is the only legitimate "gun law" on the US national government's books:

A well regulated militia being necessary to the security of a free state, the right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed.

We should respond with the same argument that liberals always use whenever anyone disagrees with Obamacare, abortion, or gay marriage: “Gun ownership is legal in this country. The courts have ruled on this and upheld the 2nd amendment over and over again. It’s settled law. Get over it.”

Unfortunately, our children are being taught what to think, not how to break down the rhetoric and find the truth.

**********************************************

Best defense is take the kids shooting. If you can’t take them hunting, take them to the range. Regularly. If they are not “afraid” of guns (as many Libs are) & realize that the person pulling the trigger is responsible for .... pulling the trigger, then a lot of what the gun grabbers say will be identified by the kids, from their own experience, as a lie.

One more benefit of teaching kids to handle guns safely while shooting .... they will recognize when someone is not handling a gun safely (like a friend who finds a parent’s gun & brings it out to show everybody, etc.). At that point, they can/should do what their parents have instructed them to do in such an unsafe situation.
