Wait, wasn't the whole point behind Obamacare to subsidize health insurance for everyone, and especially the poor? Or was the whole point of the "Affordable" Care Act merely to herd as many Americans into the clutches of the few for-profits, after the non-profit cooperatives finally read the fine print and realized they have no chance of being profitable under the new regime? Yes

No the for profit insurance companies are in the cross-hairs as well.

The end game is the herd everyone in to a state mandated one size fits all government operated socialized medicine regime where your every healthcare decision will be made for you.

Including when to die.

I got the email today. I’m canceled as of Jan 1. With some modest price increases next year this means my monthly payment goes from about $1k to $2k or more. This puts me well over the 8% of income line so no more insurance and no penalty.

The failure of Zer0 care was planned. The ever increasing costs were planned and designed to get the public to BEG for what the liberals always wanted. Single payer. Liberalism is about control of your life from cradle to grave. Single payer is the total control they wanted from the beginning. Death panels and all. Sarah is right.

Good thing you have an extra $500 a month to spend on insurance. For mooch and Barry, that’s just one dinner out

Nearly a third of the innovative health insurance plans created under the Affordable Care Act will be out of business at the end of 2015, following announcements Friday that plans in Oregon and Colorado are folding.

In just the past week, four co-ops, as the nonprofit plans are known, have decided or been ordered to shut down. Their demise means that eight of the 23 co-ops in existence a year ago will be unavailable to consumers shopping for 2016 coverage through insurance marketplaces created under the ACA

So does this mean that BCBS wins and is a part of the government?

An odd measure of “success”.

People have been waiting for the other shoe to drop. To be sure, it is not a long wait, and the system will begin to fail under its own inconsistencies, perhaps as quickly as early in 2016. The millions who will then be assessed a penalty for NOT having coverage, and by which the assessed fines shall be collected (taken out of income tax refund payments), will constitute a whole new segment that finally has the realities of the “Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act of 2010” driven home in a most painful way.

Karma is a beotch. And absolutely unforgiving.

I can understand now why the Democraps were so hell-bent to get rid of high capacity magazines...

They hope it might give them a leg up while they are fleeing for their lives!

If you like your exchange, you can keep your exchange. Period.

So if your exchange folds you can still keep it and not get fined by the IRS? Time to hold zero to his promise!

Check out the Canadian drug companies’ low prices. Their prices should make American pharmacists blush, wear masks—or both.
So if your premiums exceed 8 per cent of your income, no penalty. Your spouse’s and your premiums, and your joint income?

“...taken out of income tax refund payments...”

I wonder if that will even motivate people against obamacare? My BIL acts like it is free money when he tells my wife how much of a refund he is getting. And then he rushes out and buys something stupid.

Of course - I think a lot of retailers count on that effect for some of their spring sales events.

after the non-profit cooperatives finally read the fine print and realized they have no chance of being profitable under the new regime?

Just occurred to me that this is an oxymoron.

Non-profits are not supposed to be profitable by definition or am I mistaken?

A better phrase might be they would not be financially viable.

Also it sounds like the state Division of Insurance told them that they were no longer viable not that they figured out for themselves that they could no longer operate.

That's because the cooperative relied on federal support, and federal authorities announced last month they wouldn't be able to pay most of what they owed in a program designed to help health insurance co-ops get established.

This is of course the source of the problem. The Democrat’s rainbow and unicorns projections of the cost of the program and the numbers of young healthy people that would sign up for a high cost for a healthcare plan knowing that they likely would never use was wildly exaggerated and so the income for these unsold policies never materialized.

So the co-ops needed much more money from the federal government than projected and not just a few of the coops but all of them. This wiped out the federal fund that was to keep the co-ops going, making up the difference in come and expenditures until the coops were established.

Naturally the elaborate plans of the Magic Negro and the Legend in His Own Mind socialist economist that designed the ObamaCare Bill has quickly collapsed under the weight of a high number of heavy users of health care and a dearth of low users.

Was this an unforeseeable and unavoidable event or a well-executed plan? I think the latter. There were plenty of those on the Right that warned this would happen. Republicans were kept out of meetings for the writing of this legislation. Not a single Republican voted for the ObamaCare bill. The bill was pushed through using every trick in the parliamentary rule book. The numbers were deliberately fudged. The bill was passed during a lame duck session of congress which would allow those who had nothing to lose to vote for the bill and those returning to congress 2 years for their constituents to forgive and forget.

Yes if it wasn’t planed the Democrats can’t say they were not warned.

Yeah. Ya know - it really isn’t an insurance problem. Its all those rich doctors overcharging and stuff. If only the government could take the healthcare industry THEN it would work. (It never really was about insurance.)

The price of drugs in Canada are regulated. Not exactly a fair comparison.

Also not exactly a great environment to do research on new drugs.

Wait until employee based policies start getting hammered full time.

I won’t have to wait very long. After a very small increase last year, my company is getting a 9% increase on our medical insurance premiums as of January 1.

We have long had, or several years before Obama Care at least, a 3 tiered system based on base salary for determining the EE/ER cost share of our employer sponsored medical plan premiums – those that make the least have the lowest payroll deduction (i.e. their part of the total premium), those in the middle pay a bit more, and those in the highest bracket, the most.

But because of the 9% premium increase, in order to stay compliant with the so called “affordability test” for employer sponsored health care plans, we are going to a 6 tier cost sharing set up. Those in the lowest will see the least if any increase in their payroll deductions, while those in the middle will see the highest percentage wise.
