I just remembered this episode.

Congressional Democrats argued at the time that Republicans were pushing a case based on private misconduct that never should have reached the level of impeachment. Some Republican senators questioned whether it would sully the Senate. Polls consistently showed about two-thirds of Americans believed Clinton should remain in office.

Schippers notes in the book, “Sellout,” there were more than enough Republicans, if all stuck together, to win the simple-majority votes needed to set rules and mandate “a full impeachment trial.”

Majority Leader Trent Lott opened his first meeting with House managers by telling Rep. Henry Hyde, chairman of the House Judiciary Committee, “Henry, you’re not going to dump this garbage on us,” according to Schippers’ account.

Schippers’ writes that Lott, R-Miss., explained, “Everybody wants a fair hearing, but we don’t want to spend weeks on this,” and Lott insisted, “We can’t look partisan.”

“I learned that every time I heard the word ‘bipartisan’ on Capitol Hill, we were about to be sold out,” Schippers said.

History going to repeat itself?

thanks for the link to the letter by Trey Gowdy to Elijah Cummings. Interesting read thus far with the Osprey Company willingness to train forces in Turkey as in Special Forces hat were used in the overthrow of Baghdad. Does anyone remember Oliver North and the Iran Contra Affair in how that the democrats wanted him to be executed immediately. odd is it not that Clinton is given the royal treatment!

Gowdy better come up with something real soon to nail Clinton to the wall, or Trey and the GOP can kiss their chances of winning the presidency good-by in the 2016 election. And possibly losing both Houses.

With the flood of illegals filling the Dems voting coffers, and a win in 2016, this Republic is finished.

You can bet on it. Hillary is 100% in for the cheap labor express of cheap immigrant labor. Every other candidate is pushing the same thing, including the constitutional conservative Ted Cruz, as dictated by their rich donors.

Only Trump is talking of deporting ALL illegals. So, as it increasingly looks like Trump will be the GOP nominee, the cheap labor express will prefer Hillary.

Just read that letter Gowdy wrote to Cummings. Seems like there will be more than enough to get her. Enough that even the dems can’t deny it without looking like total fools. After reading it, i understood better why it is taking so long. It is definitely NOT a partisan witch hunt like Hillary wants it to be.

They really are hell-bent on effing up Gowdy’s work on this issue. Self-serving POS.

Once this Benghazi issue dies — and it will — Hillary’s polling numbers will skyrocket as she’s lauded as a “survivor” amid the media narrative that she hung in there and beat back the onslaught of misogynists who despised the idea of a woman in the Oval Office.

Because Gowdy is shooting for criminal intent, which has a high burden of proof

The FBI is going for gross negligence, which means no jail time

My guess is that Hanna received a briefcase full of Clinton Cash.

These prison bound rat bastards are getting desperate.

You are dead on right.
Sad part is, he has to not only beat the Democrat nominee (Hillary more than likely) but the RNC also. My guess is, if he goes in to the convention with a commanding lead or even enough votes to cinch the nomination, something will happen to disqualify him. I have no idea what, but I figure there will be something.

It’s bad enough that Republicans can’t stick together when the going gets rough, but that they turn on each other, apparently in some bizarre masochistic belief that it makes them look morally superior and incorruptible, is sickening - they can’t fulfill one of the basic functions of a political party - working together toward common goals - and deserve to go extinct.....

Go Gowdy!

I don’t suppose Boehner will order an indictment of Hillary before he leaves. That action just might salvage his reputation.

Now there needs to be an investigation of Hanna to see what he was paid or promised to be a turncoat.

So. How much did Hanna and McCarthy get paid off by the Clinton Initiative/Foundation/SlushFundsRUs? Huma testifies today - no expectations on my part at this point. :-(
