“The Russians took this position after the Western militaries failed in striking ISIS”

It is not our job to come in and clean up your (constant) religious and tribal/sectarian problems in the middles east and north Africa and elsewhere.

islam is a death cult that kills innocents. It must be removed from modern society.

However, it does come down to either destroying ISIS on its turf or scrambling to defend against it on ours. Obama decided to roll the dice on our national security and do next to nothing there. As a result, they're coming here.

Can I nominate a serpent’s head here in the U.S.? Perhaps a couple of ‘em?

The serpent’s head is not in Syria. ISIS is the tail.

We should do all it takes to keep them from coming here ... or if they do come I have no doubt that we can dispatch them forthwith. Not worried too much about that. The American people are not going to put up with that BS over here.

However, they keep making more of them. Best strategy is to keep them contained ... but we will never reform their constant (over 1000) years of tribal and religious warfare.

Keep it over there. Let them kill each other as they are wont to do. Why get in their way?

With Obama (quite possibly followed by Hillary) in the White House? You should be worried.

The argument about 1,000 years of tribal and religious warfare would have more merit were it not for the global reach of islamic terrorism. We found that out on 9/11. The tact that'll be used by ISIS won't be that of hijacking airplanes... they'll go after soft targets -- "gun-free zones" like schools. We can't even defend against a single nutjob with a couple weapons. How will we do against a well-trained team of 15-20 terrorists bent on pulling a Beslan-style attack? The videos of airplanes crashing into the Twin Towers were horrific enough. What kind of effect do you think video footage of American primary schoolers' beheadings have?

So, I disagree. However, we're about to find out why killing them on their turf was so important.

Not get in the way of their slaughtering unarmed and undefended Christians? It's more than just "killing each other as they're wont to do."

When I read the words "serpent head" why does my mind envision James Carville?

Well, that’s true, but mostly it is Muslims killing other Muslims. The Christians there have had centuries to realize what they were living amongst. While I feel sorry for them but they have had plenty of time to realize what Muslims, historically, are like. They needed to arm and create defensible positions long ago like the Jews have done ... or get out. (PS I have Syrian immigrants in my family tree). It is not hard if you live in the Middle East to figure out how volatile it is. Or you could just read history. EVERYTHING in history of the area points to the same thing that is happening now. The Israelis were smart enough to figure this out (not that it takes a lot of smarts to figure it out)

The Christians there are not a reason for us to get involved ... they tried this tactic in Afghanistan saying we were going to save the women there. Pffft.

It’s the culture.

Ummm, the Lefties are already taking down monuments and statues, just like ISIS does... we are starting to get Muslim rape gangs (RI and Michigan)... Muslim facilities are being installed on every university campus and airport... exactly what else needs to happen?

We are an armed society. Not like Europe or other places.
At some point people will not put up with the BS.

We outnumber them.

Russia, Iran, China, and the other actors are doing this because ISIS threatens their flanks directly (Russia-Kazakhstan/former Southern USSR, China- Uighars in the west of the country, Iran- its very assistance).

They were living peaceably with Assad in charge, much as much of this country would not want to admit. This "Arab Spring" jihad crap, abetted by Obama and McCain, along with the collapse of the Iraqi "military," created space for ISIS to move quickly. Neither they nor the Yazhidis saw this coming with the speed that it had.

Except that the White House created, armed and trained ISIS.

ISIS was Obama’s tool to get rid of Assad and allow/block whatever pipelines Obama chose in Syria.

Americans will withdraw to defend their families and homes and say "to hell" with the rest of it. What gets placed at universities won't matter to them.

Well, not really. The problem with so many situations in the mid-east is there’s a general lack of good guys. Sure they’re bombing the hell out of ISIS and the Muslim Brotherhood backed rebels, but they’re backing Assad who is also a scumbag.

I’ve begun considering doing an Escape from New York on the mid-east. Put a big wall around it and say “call us when you’ve figured out this whole civilization thing”.

Russia will defeat ISIS, thus dominating the Middle East and thereby replace the United States as world’s #1 superpower. 0dungo says ‘Mission Accomplished’!

You are correct. The typical American no longer has nationalistic pride and will retreat to defend their immediate inner circle. China/Russia/Iran would exploit any sort of domestic chaos here and move to conquer the United States.
