'Bad candidate' Jeb admonished to quit race

Even left-leaning news thinks Jeb Bush, former governor of Florida and struggling Republican candidate for president, ought to call it quits and go home. The Daily Beast, a daily news outlet not known for any pro-conservative bent, opined in its Tuesday pages the sluggish candidate who’s polling poorly on the national stage and in fourth place in New Hampshire, should drop out of the race. “Jeb, this isn’t working,” wrote Will Rahn. “You’re a bad candidate, and all you’re going to do now is damage the guy who can beat Trump. Is that what you want?” He went on: “Jeb, this just isn’t going to work. After all that money spent, you’re still sagging nationally and in fourth place in New Hampshire, a state you need to win. You’ve had nearly a year to make your case. It isn’t working. You should pack it in.” As Rahn pointed, “conventional wisdom” at the start of the campaign trail was Bush would only have to distance himself from his brother’s “catastrophic presidency” and show voters how his voice was different. “Now, in a fit of desperation, it looks like you’re about to draft him to stump for you,” he said. “Putting aside that George W. is still despised by a not-insignificant swath of the Republican electorate, how is that going to play in the general should you somehow win the nomination? You’re making the Democrats’ job easy, Jeb. They’ll be more than happy to attach you to his legacy and you’re doing that for them.” Rahn said the Democrats are banking on the lowest-ranking candidates, like Rand Paul and George Pataki, to drop out next. But Bush, for the sake of the party, ought to join that ship, he said.

Wow. Tough read for Jeb! But the author of this Jeb hit piece is dead wrong when she says, 'All you're going to do now is damage the guy who can beat Trump.'

I don't believe any of the GOP candidates can beat Trump at this time!

For awhile it looked like Carson had a shot but he is stepping in it bigtime on the Second Amendment again.

Could this possibly fall under the category of: “Never take advice from your enemy.” Naah!

I'd put a qualifier on that statement: I wonder if any of the GOP candidates can defeat Trump at this time without alienating so many voters that they'd never win the Presidency.

Jeb waited too long. Trump's going to get credit for ending the nightmare possibility of a Jeb Presidency. I hope that means all of the wannabees will now play nice and be hoping for the VP nod.

Only Trump can beat Trump at this point.

My 2 cents.

This author is among the earliest calling for the “Rational Thing;” i.e for Bush to withdraw. Bush should wish to be remembered as a successful state governor rather than a miserably failed Presidential candidate.

Carson, on occassion, is too intellectual for the American people in our irrationally politically correct social petri dish of a nation. Americans no longet have a logical and moral compass on which to base some reasoned rational (premise) and be led to a logical conclusion.

For instance: When teaching a kid to swim, you should not need to explain the process of “holding one’s breath” when they go under water. They instinctively know that humans can’t breath water.

Carson “stepped on it” by supporting the same position supported by the NRA?

No Jeb, don’t quit, stick around and get totally destroyed so that no bush ever again runs for any public office.

I want rubio, paul and bush to stay till there is nothing left of them and as for that broad, well, just give her mike time and she will destroy herself.

This author is among the earliest calling for the “Rational Thing;” i.e for Bush to withdraw.

Keep in mind, the only reason for this article is the fear of Trump winning. Otherwise, this same publication would have an opposite opinion. Hence, there is no honest consideration of what is best for the country, let alone what is best for the Republican Party. They are now solidly in fear of Trump becoming President, not just winning the primary.

Hey Jebbie!
If you ask Romney really, really nice, he might agree to try to hold a place for you again so the American sheeple have another four years to forget about the Bush dynasty!

I said might because the chances of him actually winning the place to hold for you is slightly worse than Carly and slightly better than Chris Christie.

“Putting aside that George W. is still despised by a not-insignificant swath of the Republican electorate...

I don't think this is accurate. I do think GWB was not as great as he could have been, and I definitely think he was less than resolute on some issues I care about...

But "despised?" That's a pretty strong word. I can almost guarantee that, had 911 happened under Obama's watch, he wouldn't have had GWB's visceral desire to protect the nation and rally the nation/world against OBL. Despite his failings, Bush's response after 911 prevent me from "despising" him.

He phrased it differently. He said it wrong, hence my previous post. The media was able to re-contexualize it and it sticks. He leaves out the statement of the premise of his arguments now and then. The dems always include a premise as they make their political points. Except theirs are almost always a false premise that the media and GOP never call them on.

"Because guns kill so many people, we need to have more gun control laws." GOP argues, "We don't need more gun control laws." instead of "Guns don't kill people any more than fish, snowcones, automobiles, marshmellows, knives, bats or automobiles. CRIMINALS use guns to kill people. Regulate the criminals not the guns or the people."
