your perceptions re seeing are near identical to my own.

To that I would add that when I upgraded from an 8? mpx camera to a 21 mpx camera...I started to see more detail...in the world around me.

I first saw the increased detail on my monitor...and then began to notice a rather drastic increase of detail in the “physical world”.

simple. is elegant..not in the modern stylistic sense of course but there is an authentic elegance in simplicity that I have a great appreciation for.

There are four rather large redwood trees not a mile from here that are impinging on the structure of a tiny old fashioned...1800;s style building that are scheduled to be removed..in the near future. Im hoping to determine the date so that I can chronicle the changes .

At present they are a sort of integral part of the “signature” of the neighborhood.

Not wanting to rely on others snapshot captures I plan on spendings some time there when the time comes.

My photography is done best alone!

The smart phone while a wonderful innovation has invaded spaces that it was never intended to be a part of...like those walks in the woods.

My camera’s too smart to need a smart phone. I seldom use it when in the company of others

That is a BIG problem. Removing a large redwood next to a structure is not for wimps. Worse, if they don't kill the trees properly they will just sprout suckers closer to the building. It will take herbicides or grinding the stumps and possibly both, although the herbicides can travel a long way through the clone roots and harm non-target trees. I've been fooling around with used billboards as tarps with some success.

Redwoods just don't quit.

I believe photography has given me "eyes to see."

Learning to draw or paint will do the same thing, only different. :-)

these trees are singe digit feet away from the foundation of the buildng.

I;d have to say that whoever planted them did no one a favor!

They look “wonderful” but a tad too cozy with the building.

Pictures are a moment in time.

What foundation? Sounds like it's too late to save. I'd guess it has had the heaves for a long time.

Do me a favor please: Take some closeups of any annual plants that come up in the sunny spot that results, particularly where there are disturbed soils. I may be able to identify them for you. These forests often go way too long these days without a disturbance that allows native annuals to breed.

Yes, alone—or with another serious photographer.

Yes. People who have a keen sense of what’s going on!

I have at times lost track of time for rather extended periods when I wasnt on the clock...and carry....my camera.
