Half of California’s children are reliant for their oral hygiene on Denti-Cal, a state-run dental care system that has failed miserably.

KEYWORDS:
An additional 2.7 million Denti-Cal patients – perhaps as many as 6.4 million – are expected to be added in the coming years.

Here is the way it will end up. The Kali government will just say that if you don’t take Denti-Cal patients, your license will not be renewed, thinking that the dentists will see the light and take on money-losing patients.

What will happen is that dentists will follow the businessmen out of the state.

Importantly, except in the odd case, government provided dental care amounts to pulling teeth. It is too expensive and time consuming for them to bother with filling cavities, so they are either ignored, if they don’t hurt, or the tooth is pulled if it does hurt.

This is a good example, as it can be extrapolated to all of government health care in a nutshell. Cheap and fast, their only priorities. It also explains why government is so very willing to write off human lives themselves.

A great example is Gov. Richard D. Lamm of Colorado, who said that elderly people have a “duty to die and get out of the way.”

Such a nice man, he should die of painful cancer.
