UCC assumed responsibility for the safety of everyone on campus when they declared their gun-free status and disarmed everyone there. Why are they not held fully responsible for their failure to protect the students and faculty?
It is the idea that deranged people would no longer look at a campus as a risk free shooting range.

I believe the Aurora movie theater shooter bypassed several theaters that were much closer to his home and did his shooting at the one that was conspicuously posted as a ‘gun free zone’. Additionally, almost all of these deranged killers commit suicide as soon as they get resistance and know somebody will be shooting back - lots of lives would be saved if potential victims did not have to wait for a police response .... thus the difference in the numbers in post #4.
You are right. But who is trying to reverse the decline? Not the churches, nor the educational institutions, nor the politicians, nor the media. They are just making it worse. Whenever anyone tries to elevate the culture, he is rdiculed, and few will defend him (Use of the politically incorrect impersonal masculine is intended.). We have no leaders, and the most influential person, the president, is part of the problem.
When you look at society as the “farm” and yourself as the farmer, cutting off the chicken’s beaks and the boar’s tusks makes perfect sense.
Or cutting the head off a soldier i.e. Lee Rigby in broad daylight on a street in London in front of many UNARMED onlookers.
In many U.S. cities those Islamic pos trying to cut the head off of a soldier would have been ventilated by armed citizens.
The day after the shootings, “The New York Post” had a full color front page.
The page showed a wounded person being wheeled away on a gurney.
The bottom of the paged said, “ANTICHRIST.”
The top of the page said, “Gunman Targeted Christians in Shooting” or words to that effect.

The Oklahoma mall “almost shooter” offed himself. He didn’t shoot anybody but was going to and a ccw man put his wife and child in cover, drew on the shooter and the guy killed himself before shooting anyone.
I couldn’t remember where that specific mall incident happened, but it’s one that stands out in my mind. The VT killer - soon as he heard the police had broken in (he’d chained the doors) killed himself. Sandy Hook - shot himself when he heard the police arriving. This latest guy - coroner says suicide - offed himself when the police started shooting. Once they hit resistance, more often than not, it appears they kill themselves. A CCW person can make a huge difference and save lives .... as can people who decide to fight back rather than submit to being shot (Tucson shooter subdued by 3 people who took action - grabbed gun, etc.).
As one recent article said, parents should demand armed guards if schools take away a person’s ability (teachers, students, etc.) to defend themselves by declaring the school/campus is a ‘gun free’ zone. If they do not provide armed security, they should be sued with a vengeance if anybody is killed by a shooter.
I moved from Seattle to rural KY in 2011. I bought it two weeks before the 2008 election. The smart Jews in 1939 Austria are not the ones that fought. The smart ones are the ones who left.
Dems want gun legislation? Fine. Pass a Bill outlawing ‘gun free’ zones.
