Has Trump Done Some Homework Since His Hugh Hewitt Interview? (he's getting better)
dailycaller.com ^ | Brent Smith

Posted on 10/02/2015 3:25:14 AM PDT by RoosterRedux

What he said was both intelligent and the truth, and void of his usual bombast. It appears maybe he did a little homework since the Hewitt interview.

The question was regarded Russia’s bombing in Syria and that Putin was supposed to be bombing ISIS, but it appears they are bombing the rebels – Assad’s enemies – the “moderates” the U.S. is supporting.

He said the U.S. has “no idea” when it comes to the identities of the various rebel groups in Syria. Trump said: “We don’t know who these rebels are. He said one of the generals he spoke to admitted “they don’t even know who they are we’re fighting for.”

Trump’s strategy appears to be to just wait while Putin bombs Syria in hopes that he’ll get “bogged down” like the Soviets did in Afghanistan – thus defeating himself. “Russia got bogged down in Afghanistan. I bet they get bogged down again,” he said.

He added that, if we successfully topple Assad, what you’ll end up with in Syria “will probably be worse than what we have now – and what we have now is very bad.”

Trump admits this strategy is not normal for him – that he wants to be very proactive, but in this situation, he doesn’t want to jump in and help who may turn out to our enemy – worse than Assad and possibly even ISIS.

I imagine our honorable generals are praying for a President Trump. And, yes, Trump is a quick study...getting better all the time :)

I bet obama didn’t see Russia coming at all.

wasn’t in his devious caliphate plans.

Of course, if russia succeeds, Iran will benefit and that is bad.

Ok. Again. Trump is a graduate of Wharton. He knows how to do homework on that merit alone

How Fox mid underestimated sic him is astonishing. But good time real drama

Says exactly what I’m thinking here.

We have to deal with the reality of Dear Leader’s cluster fornication.

We can’t be Carly and start WW3 right away. Going to have to stand, puff our chests, and watch what happens to Russia. Only issue real threats if it appears harm may come to Israel.

People say Trump is a good listener and knows who to listen to.

I wonder who the general is who has his ear.

And he must have done well at Fordham or he would have never gotten into Wharton.

And as the old saying goes, any college is a great college if you really apply yourself.

Trump is a highly focused individual. He deals with things when he has to and he ignores them when he doesn’t have to deal with them. However, there is no question that he told his advisers to prepare reports on everything that has come up so he can read the and discuss them.

Something Perry should have done between the let election and now.

Well, here is another thought. Trump knows in terms of details on a lot of fronts he has a long way to go. That's another reason he rolls out policy papers slowly, having developed a thoughtful, clear---but not overly detailed---position. That meant in the first two debates he had to get by on intuition and bluster.

When you think about that, it is amazingly gutsy. It meant he knew that for up to six months he would take a beating. You won't see him burst suddenly into George Marshall or John Quincy Adams. Rather, like JFK he will learn some on the job, no question. Lincoln had minimal military experience when forced to lead the largest war in American history. Trump has given every evidence of learning fast, and above all having the right instincts. That's far preferable to someone with all the wrong instincts and plenty of "Ed-e-ca-shun."

lol. People are such idiots. Palin saw it clearly.

Heck, even Romney saw it.

but feminist, black, Hispanic, gay and transgender rights were more important than saving the country at the voting booth.

I have been saying it for years. Obama was just at the UN reiterating his BS that we are not involved in another cold war between Russia and China. He’s wrong on that too.

Trump said: “We don’t know who these rebels are.

The idea that we could look into the chaos of Syria and identify the " good rebels" and "fully vet" them was one of the dumbest anyone in our government had ever come up with. Glad Trump is pointing that out and his statements on this make more sense than anything I've heard from other candidates.

The only way to actually know all the presidency entails, one has to be the president.

Obama has been there for almost 7 years, and still does not have a clue as to what his proper role is as the commander in chief. He’s handled his entire tenure as a “community organizer, on steroids”.

Trump is very intelligent, and a patriotic American, who will have the whole thing mastered within 90 days of taking the oath. So is Ted Cruz.

Trump will surround himself with the best, and the brightest, and then demand competency and perfection. He’ll have, and work, a long-term plan to restore our replublic and get the economy on the right track.

As the media, no doubt, keeps trying to play “trivial pursuit” with him on the endless list of middle-eastern potentates he’ll meet their challenges and prevail.

There are very few ways to learn to be the President without actually being the president. Too much of the job is veiled in secrecy and insider knowledge. Obama - in all of his narcissistic glory - gave up on the actual “work”part of the job and has relied only his pen his phone, and his race card...all of which have been a dismal failure for this nation.

Good man, Donald. They all look alike over there. Few know who is who or even care. Bo-Rock was not blind sighted, the creature is far too busy in tearing apart US to want to go through another family feud. Donald, keep your counsel with the Generals, they are Americans and they love our country as much as you.

I thought this was excellent. IMHO he stated the exact problem that we have across that whole region: we have these supposed “friends”, but who are they really. They’re constantly turning against us. Bush made the same mistake, thinking we had “friends” in Iraq. His father thought we had “friends” in Saudi Arabia. In my opinion, Arab Muslims are not our friends by definition, and the sooner we wrap our heads around that the better. We should help the Jews, the Christians, the Kurds, maybe even the Persians once they rid themselves of the mullahs. But Arab Muslims for now are basically under the sway of a Nazi-like ideology that will not be satisfy with anything less than total world domination.

He should have been prepared because Hewitt pulled the same stunt on Ben Carson weeks earlier.
