I speak figuratively, of course. I have to admit that I would have great difficulty not being a severe disciplinarian in a case like this. I would concede that if you are having to deal with this at 19 you had failed much earlier.

Disciplinarian????? she is 19 and of legal age....and I'm certain that you didn't have sex by the age of 19.....

My cousin got pregnant at 19. From a boyfriend that had no future plans and no job. I thought my Uncle would explode as I was there when she and the boyfriend told him. Instead he fought his instincts to kill the boyfriend, held in his sheer anger that you could read on his face and tried to teach them both lessons in a loving way. He helped the boyfriend to get a job and in those early years made damn sure he got his butt up and went to work. He let the daughter remain living at home while she finished an associates degree for a job that she still works at today. They are married and my uncle (the whole family) loves my now 23 year old niece.

Don't get me wrong my uncle was furious, felt liked he and my Aunt hadn't raised her properly (they have four other wonderful kids) but came to an understanding that what happened happened and neither the baby, my cousin or her boyfriend were going to die over it, I am sure they have long been forgiven, you can see they have put the work in to having a happy productive family. She could have aborted the baby without her father ever knowing, But she didn't, and although it was hard they worked hard to raise their daughter right and later had another. The first is now a nurse, the second in college. By the way she raised them, I know my cousin learned her lesson. And this story was about MURDER FOR STEALING CONDOMS. Jeesh.

“Correct me if I’m wrong, but I don’t think Germany has the death penalty...”

Yeah, I think they’ve already killed their quota for a long time in the future.

Your uncle dealt with people who tried to do better. That’s great. My problem is with people who feel we should help people who refuse to help themselves and dig themselves deeper. Sometimes we need to recognize lost causes.

I don’t think she was murdered for the theft but for the relations she had with the boy.

I’m certain it is legal to have sex at 19, that does not make it right.

It is legal for the federal government to set the tax rate at any level they want, that does not make it right.

I am speaking about her moral responsibilities and her father’s. One cannot say she can run around and do what ever she wants and dad has to accept it. If he has a moral responsibility to respect her she has a moral responsibility to behave.

True. But I think even the sight of his daughter with condoms would have lead to her death, whether she was doing anything with them yet or not. Only a crazy person and his wife, based in a false religion, kills and dumps their daughter’s body over a cliff over a teenager having sex.

Whatever happened to just disowning or shunnong someone. Unfortunately, the UK doesn’t have the death penalty.

My nephew and his GF were going to come for a visit and they wanted to sleep in the same room. We said no and they decided not to visit. Oh, well.

I’m sorry they placed you in that situation but I believe you did the right thing.

I certainly did not say that it was alright, I merely pointed out that at 19 she is legally an adult, can make her own decisions, and unless she is living at home, should not be subject to her father's discipline.

I disagree. Even if she is not at home, her father should have some say and some influence. If she totally eschews his advice she should expect nothing from him. More than likely, she was living at home in which case he has more authority.

Sorry if I misunderstood. She was doing something to diminish his respect toward her and she may have been doing it as an open sign of disrespect toward him. Who know? This is of course assuming that a Muslim can respect a woman or a daughter.
