I don’t think so. We’ll agree to disagree, as I don’t argue with allies.

Dems fit your description much more so, though.

The Speaker is selected by the whole House. To be elected as Speaker, a candidate must receive an absolute majority of all votes cast for individuals, i.e. excluding those who abstain. If no candidate wins such a majority, then the roll call is repeated until a Speaker is elected.

Top conservative marks. Jordan chaired the Republican Study Committee during the 112th Congress. During the 114th Congress, Jordan helped found the House Freedom Caucus, a group of conservatives working to "support open, accountable and limited government, the Constitution and the rule of law, and policies that promote the liberty, safety and prosperity of all Americans." He currently serves as the group's first chairman.

He is a tough, aggressive leader. Jordan was a two-time NCAA Division I wrestling champion. In the 1985 NCAA championship match, Jordan defeated future two-time Olympic gold medalist and four-time world champion John Smith.

If that were so then Boehner would be a very happy Speaker indeed!
But of course It isn’t, the Speaker’s role in his caucus is dominant.

Until I took a look at his record grade, I had NO KNOWLEDGE of this Rep. He is a political reject.

Hopefully a much better speaker will emerge from this mess. Have a good and blessed weekend!

It is the case. You must get the majority of votes in the entire House minus abstentions. Boehner would have needed some Democrats to help him remain Speaker. 25 Reps voted against him last time, but he still had the majority of votes. This time, it was projected he wouldn't have enough Reps to get the majority of the 435 votes minus abstentions. Some Dems would have had to help him.

Yes, the Speaker is dominant in his caucus due to his position. But first, he must get enough votes to be Speaker.
