I think he had the numbers to survive as Speaker, but it was mostly all Democrats and maybe twenty-percent of the RINO base. He probably discussed this with the National guys and they really didn’t feel good about him continuing with this type of Democratic support hanging onto him like an anchor.
McConnell probably will have problems in November of 2016 as a couple of Democratic Senators are placed by Republicans and there’ll be more talk of him needing to be replaced.
