Of course he will have to explain... His no votes. What part of “voted no” was unclear? His reason for removing his support of TPA is even something right up your alley: he couldn’t support trade legislation that had immigration measures rolled into it.
Which, btw, just goes to prove his convictions on immigration trump (heh) his convictions about free trade.
That's pretty much all I need to know about you.
His no vote?
You do know that Cruz successfully defended American sovereignty in the SCOTUS—against a sitting Republican president, no less?
How can you say/type with a straight face that a man who did that, AND VOTED NO ON TPA, damaged American sovereignty?
Immigration is the issues 1 through 9 this time around. Issue 10 is the Iranian bomb.
As for Planned Parenthood selling baby parts, I’m very, very opposed to it, however it doesn’t crack the top 10.
As for the things you bring up - they don’t matter. At all.
Ever been a developer? Government is a partner whether you like it or not. You either bribe people, legally or illegally, or nothing gets built. That is the way it is.
Developers can’t be political, because if you are, then sometimes no amount of money will get your permits approved.
As such, the answer to immigration is:
1. Build the wall
2. Kill the H1-B program until the GDP cracks 5% (means test it, for the love of Mike)
3. Send lawbreakers home.
If the candidate can’t grok that, then they should find another hobby other than running for President.
It is much better to admit mistakes than come up with these ridiculous spin jobs.
With his history of flip-flopping, how can you assure it won't happen again on the issues you cite? To me that is typical of an unprincipled , "finger in the wind", opportunist.
And good job, in the "deflection" department. You (s)Trumpets are getting very adept at selling this "Political Trojan Horse"
Obama could have more trouble than just with the Democrats. Republicans have come under considerable pressure from the base to put an end to Obamatrade, or at least not give Obama more executive authority to abuse than he already has. In the first cloture vote last month, four Republicans did not support it: Susan Collins (ME), Lee (UT), Paul (KY), Sessions (AL), and Shelby (AL), plus Enzi (WY) did not vote. Obama cant afford to lose any other Republicans, but presidential hopeful Ted Cruz announced this morning at Breitbart that hes backing out.
It’s not a debate.
Immigration. If you are wrong on it. You are wrong.
OMG....Stop the presses, and tell Jim Rob that we can't question the almighty (s)Tumpets here about the viability of their candidate, and his history of flip-flopping.
LMAO
Cruz will not say the “d” word (deport). He will not go on record as to what he would do about illegals already here since he “does not what to encourage more illegal immigration”. It is reasonable to conclude that Cruz favors some sort of amnesty. Only Trump get illegal immigration right.
I’m sorry I thought you were actually reading what I was posting. Apparently you missed the part where Cruz outlined his support for the essential process of TPA and his reasons for voting no on it now.
While we’re on the subject of trade—and Trump— how exactly does President Trump plan to deal with imposing tariffs or re-negotiating trade with foreign powers? Is he going to rule by executive fiat? Will he—savy businessman that he is—turn down a procedure that gives him the ability to keep trade bills from being bogged down with non-germane amendments? Or do you think he’s just going to let Congress do all trade negotiations now?
The question - immigration - is there not complete and absolute consensus on this board?
If not, debate.
If so, its a test for the candidates, and a simple one at that.
You can waste all the calories you want. It’s just that nobody is going to take you seriously.
Unless and until Cruz forms the words ‘I support deportation’, then he will languish.
In all of my years here , I never thought i would see a “Gulliani Type” candidate get such a toe hold of followers on FR. It’s like the Twilight Zone.
I have to wonder why so many Trump supporters think it’s fun to swing by Cruz threads and bash him. Threatened, much?
Quit the deflection once and for all, and address: (1) Trump’s ultra left past, and (2) How can you be assured he won’t revert to those positions. Till then, just put me on “ignore”.
I not really on the subject of trade. This election cycle I am on the subject of illegal immigration. If we fix immigration then I'll talk about trade. If we don't fix immigration there will not be much for conservatives to talk about in 3rd world America.
I can’t be assured. However, if he completely reverses course there will literally be blood in the streets.
